Located right at the foot of Lung Cu National Flagpole ( Ha Giang ), Then Pa, a hundreds of years old village, still retains almost intact the traditional features of the Mong people.

Looking down from Lung Cu National Flagpole, Then Pa village appears poetic, peaceful, nestled between sharp cat-ear rocks. Then Pa village is a small group, with 11 households of the Vang family, all brothers in a large family that have lived together for a long time, in Then Pa hamlet, Lung Cu commune. Then Pa in the local language means "big field". Therefore, Then Pa is a vast, flat field rarely found on the Stone Plateau.
At the foot of Dragon Mountain, there are two freshwater lakes called Dragon Eyes by the locals. The water in the lakes never dries up all year round. If tourists are familiar with Lo Lo Chai village with the typical features of the Lo Lo ethnic group, Then Pa village has the typical mark of the Mong ethnic group. The two villages, two cultures of two ethnic groups located next to the two Dragon Eyes lakes create a very special mark.
The most special thing here is the rare peace. A tourist commented that: "In Then Pa, people are awakened by the sunlight and the crowing of roosters signaling a new day, not by the loud honking of cars like in urban areas."
According to the leader of Lung Cu commune, the entire Then Pa village is located in the Lung Cu National Flagpole belt area, so the houses have been renovated to ensure that their traditional cultural values are preserved. Since 2021, many families have renovated their houses and combined them into homestays to serve tourists .
In particular, many households have built bungalows in the Mong ethnic architecture to welcome visitors. Of the 11 households in the village, 5 households have currently participated in community tourism. Of these, 3 households directly brew wine, make linen, and cook men men. Visitors coming here will have the opportunity to experience firsthand the activities of brewing corn wine, Dong Gieng wine, and making men men. In particular, the village has established a Management Board to purchase and control the quality of products made by the villagers, and at the same time help distribute and consume the products.
Vang Sinh Lung’s family is one of the pioneers in building bungalows for community tourism in Then Pa village. Currently, his family has a community house with a capacity of 10 people and 8 bungalows.
Mr. Lung's family resort has only been in operation for about 3 months. Mr. Lung said: Born and raised on a "sacred" land, this place is blessed with a climate and beautiful scenery that are extremely suitable for tourism development.

In particular, realizing that developing tourism associated with preserving traditional culture is the task and responsibility of the next generation, after the province and district had policies and guidelines to support tourism development, my family and other clans in the village boldly renovated the old house.
Because it is located in a protected area, the households have renovated but still maintain the traditional cultural identity, using environmentally friendly materials. It is known that after going into operation, Mr. Lung's family now has an income of about 15 million VND/month. Mostly foreign visitors love to experience the cultural activities of the ethnic people here.
It can be seen that many villages on the rocky plateau, thanks to the people's keenness in thinking about tourism and the guidance of local authorities, have achieved certain successes and become unmissable destinations for tourists.
With Then Pa village, although it has just been put into operation, however, according to the assessment, the village is still ensuring to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of the Mong ethnic group. This is the premise to be able to bring economic value, at the same time develop sustainable tourism, improve the quality of life for the people.
