Speaking at the conference, the General Secretary of the Union of Associations, Nguyen Quyet Chien, emphasized that young intellectuals are an important force, full of enthusiasm, and capable of quickly adapting to the requirements of integration and digital transformation. They are the core resource to promote innovation and contribute to the rapid and sustainable development of the country.

In order to effectively implement Resolution 45-NQ/TW dated November 24, 2023, of the 8th Conference of the Central Committee of the 13th Party Congress on continuing to build and promote the role of intellectuals to meet the requirements of rapid and sustainable national development in the new period, the Vietnam Union of Associations has issued specific action programs and plans, clearly demonstrating political determination and proactiveness in promoting the role of intellectuals, especially young intellectuals.

In reality, attracting and gathering young intellectuals to participate in the activities of the Union of Associations system still faces many difficulties and obstacles, from mechanisms and policies to the operating environment and appropriate approaches. The proportion of young intellectuals in member associations and affiliated organizations is not high, and the content and forms of activities are not attractive enough. This workshop is an opportunity to assess the current situation, share successful models, and propose specific and creative solutions, thereby creating a favorable environment and building an effective networking space to strongly promote the role of young intellectuals in the process of national development.

According to Dr. Le Cong Luong, Deputy Secretary General of the Union of Associations, in the context of the country undergoing significant changes in organizational structure, development goals, and strategic orientations until 2045, the role of young intellectuals is becoming increasingly important. This is a force that is well-trained, quickly adapts to new knowledge, possesses great creative potential, and has a high ability to adapt to the demands of the digital age.

Although the number of university graduates and PhDs has increased rapidly in recent years, the growth rate of the research and development workforce remains low and does not keep pace with the demands of scientific and technological development. One of the major challenges is the uneven quality of training; many graduates lack practical skills, requiring businesses to retrain them. To maximize the role of young intellectuals, it is necessary to build appropriate mechanisms to attract them, invest in the academic environment, innovate methods of gathering and encouraging young intellectuals to participate deeply in research and application activities and contribute to the country's development.

According to Ms. Ha Hoang Yen, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technical Innovation, attracting young intellectuals to participate in science and technology activities is an urgent requirement in the current period. To achieve effectiveness, it is necessary to focus on innovating the content and methods of activities to create a creative and attractive environment for young intellectuals; more specific solutions are needed to increase the genuine participation of young intellectuals. Designing activities that suit the needs, strengths, and innovation trends of young people, while strengthening communication and connections with businesses and training institutions, are essential directions.

At the workshop, delegates proposed the need to continue innovating the content and methods of operation to create a favorable and attractive environment for young intellectuals to participate deeply in scientific and technological innovation, entrepreneurship, and innovation movements; and the need for a coordination mechanism between member associations, affiliated units, and non-governmental organizations to expand the scope of activities for young intellectuals. Some specific solutions were mentioned, such as: strengthening the organization of forums, awards, and clubs for young intellectuals; connecting intellectuals and entrepreneurs; and promoting youth work within the Union of Associations system to create a sustainable attraction for the next generation of intellectuals...
