Bac Me District, Ha Giang Province, comprises 13 communes and towns with 139 villages, hamlets, and residential areas. The entire district has over 11,400 households with nearly 58,000 people, belonging to 16 ethnic groups. The multidimensional poverty rate is 56.42%.
Over the years, Bac Me district has consistently strived to effectively implement ethnic affairs and policies concerning ethnic minorities in the area. Since the implementation of the National Target Program for Socio -Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, Phase I (2021-2025) (National Target Program 1719), the cultural, spiritual, and economic lives of ethnic minorities in Bac Me district have seen many positive changes.
From 2019 to 2024, Bac Me district created jobs for over 5,000 local workers; provided housing support to 76 households; provided land support to 38 households; prioritized investment in 147 socio-economic infrastructure development projects; and established many community economic models and sustainable agricultural and forestry production chains…
Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs, Nong Thi Ha, expressed her hope that in the coming time, influential figures, poor ethnic minority households, and policy beneficiary families will continue to play a pioneering and exemplary role in propagating and mobilizing the people to build national unity; effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws; actively participate in the nationwide movement to protect national security and other emulation movements launched by various levels and sectors. There, the delegation presented 240 gifts to poor households belonging to ethnic minority groups, 70 influential individuals, and collectives in Tan Thanh, Dong Tien, and Thuong Binh communes (Quang Binh district), and Xin Chai, Ngoc Linh, and Thuan Hoa communes (Vi Xuyen district).
