"The visit to Vietnam is truly important for New Zealand, and Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has an ambitious agenda for building relationships with Southeast Asia. New Zealand's current foreign policy positions Vietnam as one of its most important partners in the region and globally," Ms. Beresford emphasized.
Therefore, the New Zealand Ambassador stated that accompanying Prime Minister Luxon to Vietnam was a large trade delegation, not only to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries but also to strengthen and expand relations with an important partner like Vietnam.
Over the past 50 years, the two countries have come a long way. "An important part of this relationship is the bilateral cooperation mechanism. We have collaborated in many areas. Therefore, it can be affirmed that the 'structure' of the Vietnam-New Zealand relationship over five decades is now very solid," Ambassador Beresford emphasized.
In addition to traditional areas of cooperation between the two countries such as agriculture and education, the New Zealand ambassador hopes this visit will open up new business opportunities.

"Around 25 business leaders in the New Zealand trade delegation will accompany the Prime Minister. On this occasion, they will sign cooperation agreements with partners in Vietnam," Ms. Beresford said.
The two countries can expect a range of new areas of cooperation, while simultaneously continuing to strengthen traditional areas of collaboration. By applying New Zealand's research, science, and technology to traditional sectors such as agriculture and education, this can add value to those sectors and boost Vietnam's economic growth.
The New Zealand ambassador stated that the country has a long history of innovation and a strong scientific and research community, enabling it to apply advanced technologies to traditional fields to increase efficiency and value. Ambassador Beresford believes these are areas where New Zealand and Vietnam can cooperate effectively.
"For example, with advanced agricultural technology, we have been working with Vietnam to produce crops that generate fewer emissions, contributing to Vietnam's achievement of its emission targets. On the other hand, naturally grown fruits with high international commercial value will help boost Vietnam's exports," the New Zealand Ambassador shared.
