Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh receives Mongolian Minister of Justice and Interior

On the afternoon of September 12th, at the Government headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received the Minister of Justice and Internal Affairs of Mongolia, Khishgee Nyambaatar, who was visiting and working in Vietnam.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his pleasure to note that in nearly 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations (1954 - 2023), the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Mongolia has been continuously strengthened and developed amidst the ongoing changes in the international and regional situation.

Exchanges of delegations and high-level contacts between the two countries are maintained regularly; mutual understanding and trust are strengthened, and cooperation in various fields is enhanced; cooperation in the field of security and defense remains an important pillar in the overall bilateral relationship and cooperation. In particular, economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has seen new progress. Two-way trade reached US$85 million in 2022, with significant room for further growth.

The Prime Minister highly appreciated Mongolia's consistent commitment to its relationship with Vietnam, considering Vietnam a leading important partner in Southeast Asia. He stated that Vietnam consistently values ​​and wishes to continue promoting the development of bilateral relations in many areas, in line with the capabilities and needs of both sides, and meeting the interests and aspirations of the people of each country.

Against the backdrop of rapidly changing, complex, and unpredictable global and regional situations, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for both countries to work together to enhance the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation. This includes continuing to coordinate and promote exchanges of delegations and high-level contacts at all levels and localities; promoting substantive and effective cooperation in security and defense; enhancing roles and responsibilities on issues of common interest related to maintaining peace, stability, and development in the region and the world; continuing to promote economic, trade, and investment cooperation; renegotiating the air transport agreement soon; and expanding railway transport between Vietnam, China, and Mongolia; and strengthening people-to-people exchanges and tourism between the two countries.

Mongolian Minister of Justice and Internal Affairs Khishgee Nyambaatar expressed his sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for taking the time to receive the delegation; and conveyed greetings from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mongolia to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The Mongolian Minister of Justice and Internal Affairs reported to the Prime Minister on the results of his talks with the Vietnamese Minister of Public Security; stating that the two sides had signed several cooperation agreements on crime prevention, especially transnational crime; expressing the hope that during the upcoming visit of the Mongolian President to Vietnam, the two countries would elevate their relationship to a new level; particularly, enriching Vietnam-Mongolia relations in the economic and cultural fields, commensurate with the political relationship. The Mongolian government has policies to create favorable conditions for businesses, including Vietnamese businesses, to invest effectively in Mongolia.

Agreeing with Minister Khishgee Nyambaatar's opinion, the Prime Minister stated that he instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to clarify the content of both sides' aspirations to elevate the relationship between the two countries to a new level, making it increasingly deeper, more substantive, and more effective.

Regarding internal affairs and justice, the Prime Minister requested that the Mongolian Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs cooperate closely with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, regularly exchanging experiences in areas such as cavalry training, specialized training, crime prevention, cybersecurity, and enhancing intelligence sharing; complementing each other on issues where one side has experience and capabilities, and the other side needs to learn.

Through Minister Khishgee Nyambaatar, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed his warm greetings to the Prime Minister of Mongolia; and requested the Minister to inform the President of Mongolia that Vietnam is actively preparing for the President's upcoming visit to Vietnam.
