Carry out site clearance for the next phase of My Thuy Port project
My Thuy International Port Joint Stock Company has begun coordinating to carry out procedures related to site clearance for phase 2-3 of the My Thuy Port Terminal project.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Minh, Head of Quang Tri Economic Zone Management Board, said that after restarting the project on March 25, 2024, the contractor has completed the construction of the eastern breakwater and embankment (D.1); storage yard, casting yard, traffic road (2.36 ha); and blocks classified as 1A, 1B, 2B, 2A of the temporary wharf. At the same time, other items such as breakwater, weighing station, concrete mixing station, road, yard, well, etc. are still being implemented to ensure progress.

Regarding legal procedures, the project has so far completed many related procedures such as: Detailed construction planning; land use planning and plan; approval of basic design, approval of project feasibility study report (F/S); approval of construction technical design; handover of sea area; granting construction permit for phase 1 of about 320 m of the western breakwater; removing the project from the national mineral reserve area; changing the purpose of forest use. The plan to dredge the water area and turning basin has been agreed upon by the Ministry of Transport in Official Dispatch No. 2059/BGTVT-KCHT dated February 28, 2024.
According to Mr. Pham Ngoc Minh, the total area of land handed over and land recovery decision issued for the My Thuy Port Project (phase 1) is 132.82 ha/133.67 ha (the remaining 0.85 ha is undergoing site clearance procedures); Hai Lang District People's Committee has also approved the budget, compensation and support plan and payment to households and individuals with a total amount of 138.2 billion VND.
Regarding land lease procedures, MTIP has been leased land by the People's Committee of Quang Tri province for the first phase with a lease area of 104.7 hectares. With the project's expansion area for phase 1 being 43.44 hectares, the Provincial People's Committee has approved the land use plan for 2024. At the same time, MTIP has hired a surveying consultant to complete the dossier and submit it to the People's Committee of Hai Lang district to notify land reclamation and carry out site clearance work.
“Regarding land clearance for phases 2 and 3 of the project (149.09 hectares), the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee has approved the supplementary land use plan for Hai Lang district in 2024. In addition, MTIP is coordinating with relevant departments and agencies to carry out procedures related to the location for dumping dredged material and its use for this project,” Mr. Minh added.

The My Thuy Port Area Project received investment approval from the Prime Minister in Decision No. 16/QD-TTg dated January 4, 2019. The project is invested by My Thuy International Port Joint Venture Company (MTIP) with a scale of 10 berths, capable of receiving vessels up to 100,000 DWT, and a total investment of VND 14,234 billion; implementation schedule from 2018 to 2035. In phase 1, the project has a scale of 4 berths, with a total investment of VND 5,902 billion; implementation period from 2024 to 2026.
