Emergency injection of more than 7,600 doses of foot-and-mouth disease vaccine on livestock

According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province, by September 4, foot and mouth disease had occurred in 5 communes and towns including: Huc, Tan Long, Thuan, Huong Phung and Lao Bao town, causing 116 buffaloes and cows to be infected, of which 5 died, 82 showed symptoms and 29 were being treated.

In order to minimize the spread of foot-and-mouth disease in livestock and ensure that the livestock environment is free of pathogens, Huong Hoa district is focusing on conducting an emergency vaccination campaign to prevent foot-and-mouth disease in livestock. To date, more than 7,600 doses of foot-and-mouth disease vaccine have been injected, of which 6,717 doses are from the national reserve and 916 doses are from other support sources.

It is known that Huong Hoa district has allocated 12,800 doses of foot-and-mouth disease vaccine type O and A and 1,700 liters of Benkocid chemicals from the national reserve to 21 communes and towns to carry out vaccination, disinfection, and environmental decontamination to prevent livestock diseases.

According to the plan for emergency vaccination to prevent foot-and-mouth disease in livestock, by September 10, Huong Hoa district had vaccinated 13,716 doses of vaccine as planned.
