Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc has just signed a decision to temporarily appoint Mr. Mai Xuan Thanh to hold the position of General Director of the General Department of Taxation from September 6, 2023.
Last February, Mr. Mai Xuan Thanh was transferred and appointed by the Ministry of Finance to the position of Deputy General Director of the General Department of Taxation, holding the position of Acting General Director of the General Department of Taxation. Previously, Mr. Thanh held the position of Deputy General Director of the General Department of Customs.
Mr. Mai Xuan Thanh was born in 1968, from Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province. Mr. Thanh graduated from the University of Finance and Accounting and has more than 30 years of experience in the financial industry.

Mr. Thanh worked at the General Department of Customs since September 1994, initially as a specialist at the Import-Export Tax Inspection Department, then as Deputy Head of the Tax Pricing Department of the Import-Export Tax Inspection Department.
After that, Mr. Thanh held the following positions: Deputy Director of the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department; Director of the Kien Giang Provincial Customs Department; Director of the Inspection and Examination Department; Deputy Director General of the General Department of Customs; Deputy Director General, acting Director General of the General Department of Taxation.
Previously, Mr. Cao Anh Tuan - General Director of the General Department of Taxation - was appointed to the position of Deputy Minister of Finance.
Currently, the General Department of Taxation's leadership includes: General Director Mai Xuan Thanh, Deputy General Directors: Mr. Phi Van Tuan, Mr. Dang Ngoc Minh, Mr. Vu Chi Hung and Mr. Mai Son.
