Speaking to a reporter from VietNamNet on June 29, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quy Hop district ( Nghe An province ), said that a natural disaster caused a power substation belonging to a local enterprise to be buried deep underground, and it has not yet been repaired.

Specifically, a few days prior, heavy rains occurred in Chau Tien commune (Quy Hop district), causing erosion and landslides on the mountain. A low-voltage transformer station belonging to Phuc Son Mineral Company Limited was buried under rocks and soil. In addition, a transformer station installed by INVECON Company nearby was also affected, resulting in a complete power outage.

"There are karst caves at the foot of the mountain, and during the process of water erosion, subsidence occurs naturally," Mr. Tung explained the cause of the incident.

A representative from Phuc Son company stated that the 320KVA low-voltage transformer station collapsed and was buried under rocks and soil on June 26th. The company is still awaiting a solution from Nghe An Power Company.

"The power outage over the past few days has rendered machinery inoperable, and workers have been laid off. When the problem occurred, we reported it to the power company. Now, the business can only wait for them to come up with a solution. Several other businesses have also experienced power outages following the incident," this person shared.

According to information from the Quy Hop District Power Company, due to a low-voltage transformer station being buried in a karst cave and not yet repaired, 13 customers, all mining businesses in Chau Tien and Chau Hong communes, are currently without electricity. In addition, the incident also caused four power poles on this line to collapse and be damaged.

"We have drawn up a plan for surveying and rectifying the situation. This is the property of the enterprise, so the progress depends on the cooperation of the unit that owns the transformer station. The information has been reported to the Nghe An Provincial Power Company," a representative of Quy Hop Power Company said.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Vu Van Thoan, CEO of Lam Hong Transport Service Trading Company Limited, said that due to a power outage, the company had to stop quarrying and processing stone for the past three days.

"In stone production operations, generators cannot be used because of the high cost and large power consumption," Mr. Thoan said.

Mr. Thoan explained that many workers had to take temporary leave due to power outages. A single day off causes significant losses for the business, while partner orders already have scheduled delivery times.

"We are very worried about being penalized by our partners for delayed orders," Mr. Thoan shared.

A representative from another company also stated that the power outage forced dozens of their workers to take time off, while the weather was extremely hot. On average, the company still has to spend 13-15 million VND per day on fuel for generators and water pumps.

"The power company has announced that it will take another 10 days to restore electricity. We are currently facing significant production difficulties, and if the problem isn't resolved soon, we will suffer heavy losses," this person expressed concern.

According to Mr. Tran Duc Loi, Vice Chairman of the Quy Hop District People's Committee, immediately after the incident occurred, the district leaders assigned Quy Hop Power Company to work with the enterprise to secure the scene and develop a plan for handling the situation.
