At exactly 9:00 AM, the ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day officially began. The ceremony opened with a welcoming artistic performance.

The commemoration ceremony was broadcast live on the Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam Television, and the National Defense Television Channel.

The highlight of the celebration was the epic art program lasting more than 30 minutes, including special music and dance performances, summarizing the entire history of the birth, battles and victories of the Army as well as affirming the great role of the Vietnam People's Army in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

In 2024, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, 22 key activities were comprehensively implemented across many fields, including: propaganda, education, emulation, and commendation; culture, literature, art, and sports; exhibitions, trade fairs; seminars, discussions, meetings, exchanges, and policy activities, mass mobilization, and gratitude and remembrance…

In particular, the Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024, held at Gia Lam Airport (Long Bien District) from December 19 to 22, is a highlight in the series of events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defence Day.

In addition, November and December saw notable activities such as: the entire army successfully carried out the high-intensity emulation campaign "Proud of our traditions - Continuing the glorious achievements - Worthy of being called Ho Chi Minh's soldiers"; broadcasting 60 episodes of the television series "Timeless", the documentary films "Father and Son of a Soldier", and "Marching Under the Military Banner";

According to information from the Ministry of Defense, more than 1,830 projects commemorating the anniversary, worth approximately 260 billion VND, were completed on this occasion.

Agencies, units, and localities coordinated to provide financial support for the repair and renovation of ancestral worship places (at home) for 32 out of 34 soldiers of the Vietnam Liberation Propaganda Team, with a total amount of 2.56 billion VND.
