In fulfilling its scientific and technological tasks, during the 2022-2023 period, the provincial authorities have been implementing three projects related to local tourism. Specifically, these projects are: “Research on assessing environmental carrying capacity and proposing solutions for environmental management and protection in the Hon Cau Marine Reserve”, “Research on collecting, preserving, and promoting the Ariya values of the Cham people in Binh Thuan province”, and “Research on building, managing, and developing the tourism brand of Binh Thuan province”.
According to the Department of Science and Technology, the project: “Research on assessing environmental carrying capacity and proposing solutions for environmental management and protection in the Hon Cau Marine Protected Area” has initially assessed the environmental carrying capacity and proposed solutions for environmental management and protection, and biodiversity conservation to serve tourism development. The project's output includes reports on: air emissions, wastewater, and solid waste; current status of biodiversity and resources; environmental carrying capacity… from which solutions for environmental protection and biodiversity conservation in the Hon Cau Marine Protected Area are proposed. This project has been completed and is being handed over to relevant localities, agencies, and units in the province for rapid implementation and application… The project “Research on building, managing, and developing the tourism brand of Binh Thuan province” was implemented from December 2022 to the end of November 2023. The goal is to build, manage, and develop the Binh Thuan tourism brand to serve the sustainable development of the "non-polluting industry." The main products of this project include: Brand positioning; a set of solutions for building, managing, and developing the Binh Thuan tourism brand, ensuring high scientific accuracy and feasibility; a tourism brand identity for Binh Thuan province; and a tourism destination brand identity…
Meanwhile, the research project "Study on the Collection, Preservation, and Promotion of the Ariya Values of the Cham People in Binh Thuan Province" was carried out with the goal of collecting, cataloging, and classifying Ariya according to genres such as poetry, epics, and family precepts. It also proposed feasible preservation solutions to prevent the timely disappearance of these genres and contribute to tourism development. To date, the project has been completed and is being prepared for handover to local authorities, agencies, and units in the province for practical application.
In addition to the projects already underway, the relevant department plans to continue advising the Provincial People's Committee to approve the selection results for several other projects to be implemented in the near future. These include the project "Research on influencing factors and proposed solutions to preserve, enhance, and promote the Bau Trang scenic area, contributing to sustainable tourism development" and the project "Research on the causes of erosion and proposed solutions to protect the banks of the Bau Trang lake area". Through these studies, the causes of erosion will be identified, and appropriate protective solutions will be proposed, aiming to preserve, enhance, and promote the Bau Trang scenic area, contributing to sustainable tourism development…
Regarding the research topic "Studying and developing a night-time economic development model suitable to the advantages and practical conditions of Binh Thuan province," the product orientation is a night-time economic development model that suits the advantages and practical conditions of the province. It is expected to include a model, a list of products, types of activities, specific entertainment and recreational services, and a number of tours, routes, and tourist areas/destinations that can be exploited to provide night-time tourism products… In addition, the sector is also considering implementing the research topic "Assessing the unique values of biodiversity and natural conditions in the Bung Thi Hot Spring area, Binh Thuan province, to serve the goal of conservation and ecotourism development." The general objective of this topic is to understand, analyze, and evaluate the unique values of biodiversity and natural conditions (geology, landscape) to propose a plan for ecotourism development combined with the conservation of natural resources in the Bung Thi Hot Spring area.
Regarding this work, every year the Department of Science and Technology will advise the Provincial People's Committee to hand over completed tourism development-related tasks to localities, agencies, and units for practical application. At the same time, it will also propose and advise on commissioning scientific and technological tasks to contribute to the development of tourism in Binh Thuan in the new phase…
