Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Semiconductor Industry Exhibition 2024 (SEMIExpo Viet Nam 2024) on the morning of November 7th, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed that the exhibition marks an important step forward for Vietnam in its efforts to participate in the global value chain of the semiconductor industry.
SEMIExpo Viet Nam 2024, themed “Elevating Vietnam in the Global Semiconductor Supply Chain,” taking place from November 7-8, is the first and largest international semiconductor exhibition ever held in Vietnam.
Vietnam is poised to participate more deeply in the semiconductor industry and has clearly demonstrated its aspiration to become a link in the global semiconductor supply chain. Vietnam's semiconductor market is projected to reach US$7.01 billion by 2028, with an average annual industry growth rate of approximately 6.69% during the 2023-2028 period.
To effectively capitalize on this opportunity, the Government established the National Steering Committee for Semiconductor Industry Development, chaired by the Prime Minister and with the Minister of Planning and Investment as the Permanent Vice-Chairman. Simultaneously, the Government issued the Strategy for the Development of Vietnam's Semiconductor Industry to 2030, with a vision to 2050, in Decision No. 1018/QD-TTg dated September 21, 2024; and the Program for Human Resource Development in the Semiconductor Industry to 2030, with a vision to 2050, in Decision No. 1018/QD-TTg dated September 21, 2024.
In his opening remarks at SEMIExpo Viet Nam 2024, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed that SEMIExpo Viet Nam 2024 marks an important step forward for Vietnam in its efforts to participate in the global value chain of the semiconductor industry. Semiconductors are considered the "heart" of modern technology and the foundation for the digital economy .
Held for the first time in Vietnam, SEMIExpo Viet Nam 2024 attracted over 5,000 delegates and 100 booths from major semiconductor technology partners such as Cadence, Qualcomm, Intel, Qorvo, Dassault Systemes, Siemens, Tektronix, FPT, Viettel… Alongside this was the extensive participation of various components of the semiconductor ecosystem, including research institutes, universities, investment funds, businesses, organizations, associations, and experts from both Vietnam and abroad.
SEMIExpo Viet Nam 2024, with its numerous seminars and side activities, will be an opportunity to connect Vietnam with the world in the semiconductor sector. This includes showcasing Vietnam's potential and advantages to global semiconductor companies and opening up opportunities for Vietnam to participate in various stages of this industry.
The exhibition also clearly demonstrates the spirit of cooperation and solidarity of the global semiconductor community with the development of Vietnam's semiconductor industry, working together towards a rapid and sustainable future. In addition, it contributes to promoting the business environment, investment opportunities, and development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam.
Within the framework of SEMIExpo Vietnam 2024, the Dialogue Program with domestic and international semiconductor businesses, chaired by the Minister of Planning and Investment, is a high-level forum for exchanging and sharing best practices in the semiconductor industry from experts, business leaders, and policymakers from both international and Vietnamese backgrounds. Aimed at promoting the sustainable development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam, the program is part of the Ministry of Planning and Investment's efforts to create a favorable environment for discussing national strategies, investing in infrastructure, and developing practical support policies for the semiconductor industry.
Through this, Vietnam can effectively and proactively participate in various stages of the semiconductor supply chain, maximizing Vietnam's advantages and making it an attractive destination for major investors in this field.
