The semiconductor industry is considered the "core" of the electronics industry, responsible for creating microchips and electronic components to serve the production of complex products. In order for the semiconductor industry's human resources to have the opportunity to develop, according to experts, Vietnam needs to promote linkages, strengthen cooperation as well as diversify domestic and international cooperation models.

On the afternoon of December 4, the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group ( Viettel ) coordinated with the University of Science (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) to organize a training program for semiconductor chip manufacturing engineers.

This is the opening and fundamental activity in preparing resources to operate Vietnam's first high-tech semiconductor chip manufacturing factory - a task assigned by the Government to the Ministry of National Defense and Viettel to implement.

The first training course gathered 20 engineers from the chip manufacturing division (Fab) of Viettel Semiconductor Center (VSI). In nearly 300 hours of study, students will be equipped with a system of in-depth knowledge about chip manufacturing technology, skills in using and operating cleanroom equipment, and practice integrating production processes according to industrial standards.

The program is designed to ensure that students master both theoretical foundations and practical skills on modern equipment commonly used in the global semiconductor industry.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy General Director of Viettel Group, Mr. Nguyen Vu Ha emphasized that the construction of the first semiconductor factory is not only a technology project but also the aspiration of the country in the journey to master core technology: "The first semiconductor factory project will help Vietnam narrow the gap from the laboratory to reality, helping scientists, startups, and technology enterprises to turn ideas into products, turn research into tangible contributions to the country. At the same time, it opens a semiconductor ecosystem where the generation of Vietnamese engineers are trained, mature and continue to train the next generations."

Deputy General Director Nguyen Vu Ha emphasized that Viettel always considers people as the decisive factor. The training cooperation with the University of Natural Sciences - a unit with strengths in basic science, modern clean room systems and a team of experienced experts - is the first step to forming a core force of engineers capable of operating and mastering chip manufacturing lines in the future.

The first training course gathered 20 Fab engineers of Viettel Semiconductor Center (VSI). In nearly 300 hours of study, students were equipped with a system of in-depth knowledge about chip manufacturing technology, skills in using and operating cleanroom equipment, and practiced integrating production processes according to industrial standards.

The program is designed to ensure that students master both theoretical foundations and practical skills on modern equipment commonly used in the global semiconductor industry.

The School representative acknowledged the close coordination between the two units in the process of developing training content, and affirmed the commitment to accompany Viettel in standardization, training and research to serve the semiconductor industry - a key science and technology field that is being prioritized for development.

According to the School, this is a typical cooperation model between businesses and training institutions, making a practical contribution to the National Semiconductor Human Resource Development Program.

Student representative, Dr. Ha Duong Long shared that the course is not only an opportunity to improve knowledge and accumulate practical experience, but also a responsibility to contribute to the goal of mastering manufacturing technology and perfecting Vietnam's semiconductor supply chain in the coming time.

The opening of the semiconductor chip manufacturing engineer training program is a concrete step demonstrating Viettel's determination in developing high-quality human resources, preparing for the deployment of Vietnam's first high-tech semiconductor chip manufacturing factory after the project is approved. This is also an important contribution of Viettel in the process of forming Vietnam's semiconductor ecosystem, creating a foundation for the country to master strategic technology in the new period.

According to the Program "Developing human resources for the semiconductor industry to 2030, with a vision to 2050", Vietnam aims to train at least 50,000 semiconductor engineers, including 15,000 microchip design engineers and 35,000 engineers in production and packaging stages./.
