On December 10th, China successfully launched the Lijian-1 (also known as Kinetica-1 Y11) rocket carrying nine satellites into orbit.
The launch took place from the Dongfeng Commercial Space Innovation Test Range, near the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Northwest China. The Lijian-1 rocket successfully placed nine satellites into their designated orbits.
Meng Xiangfu, a member of the launch command team, said that among the satellites launched into orbit, three belonged to international customers: the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Egypt, and Nepal.
Specifically, the UAE-led 813 satellite is designed to observe land, climate, and the environment. Egypt's SPNEX satellite is used to monitor the impacts of climate change and the dynamics of the ionosphere.
Notably, the Slippers2Sat satellite is an educational project developed by a Nepalese non-profit organization in collaboration with the Amateur Radio Digital Communications Organization.
This project aims to inspire and support science education, particularly targeting impoverished and ethnic minority communities in Nepal, with the goal of empowering high school students to design and develop Nepal's third 1U CubeSat satellite.
Meng Xiangfu added that the developer of Lijian-1, CAS Space, a Chinese commercial rocket launch service provider, has served a total of 32 satellite launch orders, including 26 domestic and 6 international customers.
Industry experts believe that launching satellites for international customers has become a key growth driver for China's commercial space sector.
The latest Lijian-1 launch demonstrated the technical prowess of the country's commercial aerospace industry and offered a new option for customers worldwide.
