Speaking on the sidelines of the 2024 Durian Festival press conference on the morning of July 18, Ms. Ngo Thi Minh Trinh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Krong Pak district, said that in just two years 2022 and 2023, the whole district will have more than a thousand more cars.

Most of the cars owned by people in Krong Pak district cost from 300 to 500 million VND or more, many cars cost billions. Those who bought cars were mainly due to winning durian in 2022 and 2023.

Mr. Ma Gi (born in 1974, residing in Jung 2 hamlet, Ea Yong commune, Krong Pak district) shared that his family has nearly 2 hectares of durian that are being harvested. In 2023, his family will harvest more than 30 tons, after deducting expenses, the profit will be nearly 2 billion VND.

"In our village, many families have hit the jackpot with durian. Thanks to this fruit, our families have enough to eat and save up to buy cars. This year, our family's durian harvest is estimated to reach over 30 tons," said Mr. Ma Gi.

The family of Mr. Y Phul Nie (Jung hamlet, Ea Yong commune) also had a lot of difficulties in the past. Thanks to the durian harvest in the past few years, the family was able to build a spacious house and buy a car.

There are more than 1.6 hectares of durian being harvested, thanks to which, on average, each year Mr. Y Phul's family earns more than 1 billion VND.

"Thanks to the durian tree, my family has overcome difficulties, built a house and bought a car for travel," Mr. Y Phul Nie boasted.

Ms. Ngo Thi Minh Trinh informed that thanks to the durian harvest, many households in the district have bought cars. Specifically, in 2022, people in Krong Pak district bought about 400 cars of all kinds. By 2023, people in the area continued to buy 600 more cars.

"Currently, the price of durian at the garden is 92,000 VND/kg, people continue to win the price and the number of people buying cars will skyrocket in the near future," Ms. Trinh added.

According to statistics, in 2024, the entire Krong Pak district will have 8,157 hectares of durian. Durian output in 2024 will reach over 92 thousand tons.
