The three Vinh Tan thermal power plants (1, 2, and 4) at the Vinh Tan Power Center have seven generating units with a total capacity of 4,284 MW, making them among the leading power generation plants in the country. The plants utilize modern thermal power technology from developed countries, employing imported or blended domestic coal to minimize emissions and protect the environment. For many years, the three plants at the Vinh Tan Power Center have operated stably and safely, meeting the national grid's demand at all times and contributing to socio-economic development, including in Lam Dong province. The total electricity output from these three plants to the national grid has exceeded 178 billion kWh, helping to compensate for the 500 kV transmission line shortages in the Southeast region during the dry season and periods of prolonged heat, when hydropower plants lack water. The plants contribute nearly 2 trillion VND to the state budget annually.

Mr. Vu Thanh Hai, Director of Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant, said: “Following directives from EVN, Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant has improved the availability factor of its three units (S1, S2, S3), with a total capacity of 1,800 MW, proactively securing fuel sources to ensure continuous and safe production, fully meeting the electricity demand at each time. In the first six months of the year, Vinh Tan 4&4 Thermal Power Plant expanded production by 4,652 million kWh; Vinh Tan 4 strives to meet the electricity production target of 11,432 million kWh as assigned by EVN this year. After more than 7 years of commercial operation, Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant has reached a production milestone of nearly 55 billion kWh, demonstrating the efforts of the plant's staff and workers.”

Mr. Do Huynh Phong, Deputy Director of Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company, the managing company of Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant, said: “With the support of Power Generation Corporation 3 and the efforts of the staff of Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company, Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant and Vinh Tan 2 Solar Power Plant are now operating stably. The company's electricity production in the first six months of this year was 3.882 billion kWh; the cumulative production since going into operation is 73.180 billion kWh.”

Meanwhile, the Vinh Tan 1 Thermal Power Plant, belonging to Vinh Tan 1 Power Company Limited (BOT Company), is consistently operated at full capacity of 620 MW for both generating units. To contribute to ensuring domestic electricity supply during the prolonged dry season, the BOT Company monitors the operation of both generating units, preventing any shutdowns or power drops. The operating staff is strategically deployed to ensure the completion of production duties. In the first six months of this year, the plant achieved 3.95 billion kWh, equivalent to 52.51% of the annual plan. From its commercial operation on July 6, 2018, to June 30, 2025, Vinh Tan 1's electricity output to the national grid exceeded 50.79 billion kWh; it is the first plant in Vietnam to achieve a commercial electricity output of 50 billion kWh in a record 7 years of operation. The BOT company is supplied with coal from the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group (TKV); the average daily inventory in the month is approximately 305,000 tons, ensuring sufficient reserves for the two generating units to operate at full load for 22 days.

Since their operation began, the three thermal power plants have actively carried out social welfare work in Vinh Hao commune and neighboring communes, supporting the local community in building electricity, roads, schools, and health stations to meet the standards of the new rural development program, assisting underprivileged but studious students, and constructing charitable houses for policy beneficiary families and poor households. Over 40% of the workers at the three plants are children of local residents, earning a relatively good income compared to the regional average, providing employment for young workers in the area, and contributing to changing the face of the new rural development of Vinh Hao commune in this sun-drenched and windy region.
