Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Dak Lak province) is a private higher education institution, established on August 19, 2014 under Decision No. 1450 of the Prime Minister. After 11 years of construction and development, the school has become a prestigious training address in the Central Highlands region, constantly expanding its scale, improving the quality of teaching, research and community health care.

Linking the School - Institute - Hospital model

Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy currently trains in the fields of General Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Public Health and continues to expand the joint training system, postgraduate, specialized and new majors to meet social needs. By July 2025, nearly 3,000 students had graduated, of which up to 96% found jobs in the right field after only one year of graduation - a number that shows the effectiveness and reputation of the training program.

In parallel with teaching, the school pays special attention to scientific research and knowledge transfer. The Biomedical Research Institute under the school has become a pioneering center in applied research and transfer of technological solutions in medicine, public health, pharmaceuticals and molecular biology.

In particular, on February 16, 2022, Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital officially came into operation, contributing to the completion of the School - Institute - Hospital model. This is not only a modern clinical practice facility for students but also a place to provide high-quality medical services to the people of the Central Highlands.

The hospital is strongly developing in-depth specialties, applying many advanced techniques such as cardiovascular intervention, endoscopic surgery, gallstone removal and percutaneous urology under ultrasound guidance, gastrointestinal endoscopy for early diagnosis and treatment of submucosal cancer. In particular, the Reproductive Support Unit, after more than 3 years of implementation, has brought the happiness of parenthood to hundreds of infertile couples, with 500 children born thanks to in vitro fertilization (IVF).

The hospital currently has 200 inpatient beds, with an occupancy rate of 150%. It is expected that by the end of 2026, after the completion of the new high-rise building, the scale will increase to 1,100 beds. With the motto of "taking the patient as the center", the team of doctors and nurses always strive to provide the best quality of treatment.

Integration milestones and development vision

In the 2024-2025 academic year, Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy is honored to welcome the first 60 international students from India to study Medicine, marking an important step in the internationalization of education. To strengthen enrollment, the university's delegation visited Bhagyalaxmi Educational Services Company - a recruitment partner in India, and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in India.

At the reception, Prof. Dr. Cao Tien Duc - Principal of the school informed about the recruitment and training of Indian students and thanked Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai and the diplomatic staff for their support. The Ambassador emphasized the need to improve English proficiency for lecturers, increase Vietnamese language teaching for students, and focus on managing and taking care of the lives of Indian students.

In line with the development orientation of the Central Highlands region according to Resolution No. 377 of the Prime Minister for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, which clearly states the task of "improving the training capacity of Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy", the school aims to become Buon Ma Thuot University of Health Sciences by 2045. With a commitment to the benefit of the community, the school adheres to three core values: Ethics - Capacity - Dedication.
