According to a VNA correspondent in Moscow, in a live program on July 19 of Channel 1, political scientist - former State Duma (lower house) deputy of Russia Vyacheslav Nikonov sent his deep condolences to the Party, State and people of Vietnam. Political scientist Nikonov called General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong a "great friend of Russia", emphasizing that: "He was truly a great friend of our country and a person who had a great influence on the successful development of relations between the two countries. I would like to deeply remember comrade Nguyen Phu Trong".

The Communist Youth Komssomol Truth page highlights that under the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnam has achieved the greatest achievements in the economic, political and social fields, ensuring a stable growth rate of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Sharing this view, the Japanese press believes that Vietnam's most outstanding achievements during the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong are high economic growth, enhanced position in the international arena, and a policy of "comprehensive, multi-directional, and balanced diplomacy" in the context of a polarized world.

According to VNA correspondents in Tokyo, NHK Television, Nikkei newspaper, and Yomiuri newspaper, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has implemented “comprehensive diplomacy” to consolidate and maintain good relations with the US, China, Japan, Russia and other countries, while leading multi-directional diplomacy even as the international community becomes increasingly polarized.

Viet Think Tank Executive Chairman Ha Hoang Hop commented: "Vietnam has developed its regional stature under General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, affirming itself as a proactive country" in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)".

Meanwhile, the Asahi newspaper emphasized that under the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnam has positioned its bilateral relationship with Japan as a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; trade exchanges and the sending of technical interns have also become deeper. In 2015, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited Japan and met with then Prime Minister Abe Shinzo.

Nikkei Asia, Yomiuri and Asaki newspapers also recalled that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has carried out a thorough, historic crackdown on corruption in a rapidly growing economy and won public support, thereby strengthening the Party's central role.

According to Nikkei Asia, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is also known for his scholarly statements that “socialism constantly improves the material and spiritual life of the people,” as he said in a 2022 speech. The newspaper also reviewed the General Secretary’s famous books.

Economically, the Nikkei newspaper assessed that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has led Vietnam to high growth thanks to participation in free trade agreements and other measures. Vietnam has attracted foreign manufacturing companies through measures such as joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). Global corporations from US technology giant Apple, Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD, Japanese clothing retailer Uniqlo and others are expanding their supply chains in Vietnam - a market that is becoming a hub for textiles and technology products.

According to a VNA reporter in Washington, many major newspapers in the US have also published articles about the leadership career of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong over the past 13 years.

The Washington Post article emphasized that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has led Vietnam into a period of greater economic openness and has also taken a more aggressive approach to fighting corruption, thereby rekindling public confidence in the Party’s leadership of Vietnam’s economy – one of the most dynamic in the region, with a growing startup sector.

The Washington Post also commented that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has skillfully implemented a policy of “bamboo diplomacy” when Vietnam needs to navigate its relationship with its most important economic partners, China and the United States, while building relations with countries like India and Russia.

Meanwhile, the New York Times commented that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is an honest and simple leader. Under his leadership, Vietnam has enhanced its reputation in the international arena and is one of the fastest growing economies in Asia.
