From a boy collecting scrap metal to a PhD student at a top university in the world

(Dan Tri) - Pang Zhongwang is currently a PhD student at Tsinghua University (China). He used to earn a living as a trash collector since he was a child, and now he has become a cultural ambassador for his hometown.

Having gained attention for his arduous journey to Tsinghua University, Pang Zhongwang is frequently mentioned in Chinese media as an inspiring figure. Zhongwang comes from a particularly disadvantaged family in Wuqiao County, Hebei Province, China.

Recently, Chung Vong was once again mentioned in the Chinese media when the young man was appointed by the government in Wuqiao County as an expert consultant and cultural and tourism ambassador for his hometown.

Chung Vọng is currently a doctoral student specializing in precision instruments at Tsinghua University, a top-ranked university in China. At the age of 26, he has already published several scientific research papers in specialized journals in China.

In 2017, Chung Vong caused a stir when he scored 684 out of 750 points on the university entrance exam, an outstanding result given his family's extremely difficult circumstances. Chung Vong's father suffers from mental illness, and his mother is paralyzed in both legs. Chung Vong had to scavenge for garbage to earn money to support himself and his parents.

When the story of student Bang Chung Vong was reported in the Chinese media, many philanthropists offered financial assistance so that he could focus on his studies, but Chung Vong refused. He lived a rather private life during his university years.

Recently, the government of Wuqiao County - Bang Chung-wang's hometown - officially appointed him as an expert consultant for local authorities, and also as a cultural and tourism ambassador.

Pang Zhongwang's optimistic spirit is often highlighted by Chinese media. Despite being born and raised in extremely difficult circumstances, Zhongwang always displays a cheerful and optimistic attitude.

"My mother always taught me to be optimistic and look forward. My mother smiled every day, so I had no reason to be sad," Chung Vong once shared.

A recent post by Bang Chung Vong about his career aspirations also went viral on Chinese social media. He emphasized: "The mission of our generation is to serve the country through scientific research."
