Vo Tu Duc is also the first expert in Vietnam and Southeast Asia of Google Workspace - an increasingly popular platform with more than 3 billion users.

Self-study from Google

As a programmer working in Ho Chi Minh City, Vo Tu Duc is one of eight Google Workspace Developer Experts (GDE) in Vietnam, a modest number among more than 1,000 global GDEs currently recognized by Google.

Vo Tu Duc participated in the Tuoi Tre Start-Up Award 2023, representing a payroll application in this award. Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online, he said that he was a layman in technology, having studied economics . But he turned to technology quite early. His first job was at a telecommunications equipment company 16 years ago.

Since 2007, he has held various positions in many companies: product marketing, sales and product development. Therefore, he has had the opportunity to meet and discuss with foreign technology partners such as Qualcomm, Google, Amazon AWS, Mediatek.

"I did not take any specific IT courses, but mainly learned through YouTube, friends and colleagues, mostly watching videos , reading and following the instructions on Google's official system. When I had questions or encountered any difficulties, I asked questions on the community page. Experts were ready to answer those questions in great detail," said Mr. Duc.

An official App Sheet partner since 2018, he has released add-ons on the Google Workspace Marketplace, providing integration services and custom automation workflows to customers in the US, Canada, and other regions.

Support for designing automated workflows

According to Google's introduction, Vo Tu Duc is working as a consultant and programmer, specializing in designing and implementing complex and customized automation workflows.

He is also a board member of DOWA - a non-profit association with over 300 members including wood producers and exporters.

He directly sets up the process of automating workflows and work processes for businesses as they transition to the Google Workspace working environment.

“It is impossible in a business that one person uses this tool and another uses that tool,” said Mr. Duc.

Google Workspace is a platform with more than 20 toolkits with thousands of functions. So it is a big challenge for all employees to fully understand the functions, exploit the advantages and apply those functions fluently.

As a GDE, Vo Tu Duc is able to express complex technology topics in the most understandable language. At the same time, he is responsible for supporting the community, searching for and guiding other GDEs.

His AC2F and SocialSheet add-ons have been installed in over 45,000 instances and are used by over 250 international businesses including: Motorola Automation, Nature.com, BG Lawn System, oPX and Tusk Automation.

In the near future, Vo Tu Duc said he will still spend time supporting the community, speaking at domestic and international events related to technology, and continuing to share articles on his website and YouTube.
