After a 3-0 victory over U21 France in the opening match of the 2025 Shanghai tournament, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team confidently entered the match against host U21 China, the second match of the group stage.

Although the first set started well, the defense was not solid and the first step revealed many problems, the Vietnamese girls lost 20/25. In the second set, coach Ngoc Hoa sent Bui Thi Anh Thao onto the field to help the attack of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team play better. Unfortunately, after a 23/23 tie, Nguyen Thi Phuong and her teammates were scored 2 points by their opponents, winning 25/23.

Set 3 saw commendable efforts from the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, however, U21 China continued to show their mettle at crucial moments, winning 25/20, with an overall 3-0 victory.

At 9:00 a.m. on July 15, coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa and her team had the final match of the group stage against U21 Sesi Vôlei Bauru of Brazil.
