Honoring the 87-year-old man in Cu Chi who donated 400 square meters of land to build a road

On October 23, Ms. Cao Thi Thanh Nhan, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cu Chi Commune (Ho Chi Minh City), announced that at the First Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio -political organizations of the commune, term 2025-2030, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune commended 56 exemplary individuals who have actively participated in the movement "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" in the period 2020-2025.

These exemplary individuals are those who actively participate in social activities and community work, contribute to social welfare, and actively promote and encourage people to implement the policies and guidelines of the Party and the State.

Many individuals actively participate in and campaign for land donations for road construction, contribute funds for road building, award scholarships, give Tet gifts, run charitable kitchens, provide breakfasts, and care for disadvantaged families and children, etc. These activities bring practical value and contribute to spreading the spirit of compassion and community solidarity.

The oldest person among the 56 exemplary individuals honored for the period 2020-2025 is Mr. Nguyen Van Tam (87 years old, residing in Hamlet 6A, Cu Chi Commune).

According to information from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cu Chi commune, Mr. Tam is an exemplary citizen of Hamlet 6A who always strictly adheres to the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws. In order to contribute to the construction of new rural areas, Mr. Tam donated 400m² of land for the construction of Road 425 (Cu Chi commune).

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Tam said he voluntarily donated 400 square meters of land for the local authorities to build a road, creating favorable conditions for people's travel. He expressed his wish for his hometown to develop further and for the lives of its people to improve.

He was delighted that his actions were recognized and commended by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cu Chi commune. Upon receiving the certificate of commendation as an exemplary advanced model, along with a gift of a map of 34 provincial-level administrative units of Vietnam, he expressed his gratitude, saying it was very precious to him and that he would cherish it carefully.

Mr. Tam's relatives shared that the family fully agrees with and supports his voluntary donation of land for road construction, viewing it as a meaningful act that contributes to the common good.
