According to the plan, from 7:00 AM on August 13th to 5:00 PM on August 15th, the Ministry of Education and Training, in coordination with training institutions, will review the entire database of candidates who registered their nguyện vọng (preferences) on the common system, and prepare the process for eliminating fraudulent applications. On August 16th, schools will upload the database to the system and conduct the admissions process.

Therefore, from August 16th to 5 PM on August 20th, the Ministry of Education and Training and training institutions officially entered the virtual filtering process, which consisted of 6 rounds. The 6th round of virtual filtering concluded at 4:30 PM on August 20th.

The Ministry of Education and Training's admissions support system ensures that each candidate is only admitted to their highest-ranked choice.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training's guidelines, by 5 PM on August 20th, educational institutions must enter the admission scores and selection results into the system. They should then review and prepare to announce the results of the first admission round according to the general schedule.

Educational institutions will announce the cutoff scores and the list of successful candidates for the first round before 5 PM on August 22nd. Candidates must confirm their enrollment online through the system before 5 PM on August 30th.

As of July 28th – the deadline for registration on the Ministry of Education and Training's system – 849,544 candidates had registered for the 2025 university and college entrance exams, representing 73.23%. This means that over 310,400 candidates did not register for the 2025 university and college entrance exams.

Also according to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, the total number of applications for university and college admission in 2025 is 7,615,560. Accordingly, each candidate registers an average of about 9 applications.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Higher Education Department (Ministry of Education and Training), affirmed: The Ministry's admissions support system ensures that each candidate is only admitted to their highest-priority registered choice. If they are not admitted to that choice, the system will then consider their next choice.

A notable new point of the 2025 university and college entrance exam is that there will no longer be an early admission form. All wishes, whether based on high school graduation exam scores or a combination of methods, will be processed simultaneously on the system. This is why experts and teachers always remind candidates to pay special attention to the order of their wishes, because this directly affects their chances of admission.

Experts still advise candidates to closely monitor information from the Ministry of Education and Training and their schools throughout the virtual filtering period. Although the system does not allow changes to preferences at this time, understanding the process will help candidates avoid misunderstandings or unnecessary anxiety.

After the virtual filtering process is complete, candidates need to carefully check their personal information, major, admission scores, and admission requirements; complete the admission confirmation on the system within the deadline; and regularly monitor announcements from the school regarding the admission schedule and required documents.

Following the first round, starting on September 1st, universities will conduct supplementary admissions rounds, lasting until the end of December 2025. However, only candidates who have not yet confirmed their enrollment are eligible to participate in these rounds. If they have already confirmed their enrollment, they cannot withdraw to continue the admissions process, unless the university approves their withdrawal for a special reason.

Experts warn that many students, after being accepted, find their chosen field of study unsuitable, but fail to anticipate the possibility of not being considered for supplementary admissions. Therefore, careful consideration is advised before confirming enrollment.
