According to the plan, from 7:00 a.m. on August 13 to 5:00 p.m. on August 15, the Ministry of Education and Training will coordinate with training institutions to review the entire database of candidates registering their wishes on the common system, preparing for the virtual filtering process. On August 16, schools will upload the database on the system and organize the admission exam.
Thus, from August 16 to 5:00 p.m. on August 20, the Ministry of Education and Training and training institutions officially entered the virtual screening process consisting of 6 times. The 6th virtual screening ended at 4:30 p.m. on August 20.
The Ministry of Education and Training's admission support system ensures that each candidate is only admitted to one highest wish.
According to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training, by 5:00 p.m. on August 20, training institutions will enter the admission scores and admission results into the system. Review and prepare to announce the first round of admission results according to the general schedule.
Training institutions will announce the benchmark scores and successful candidates of the first round before 5:00 p.m. on August 22. Candidates confirm their admission online for the first round on the system before 5:00 p.m. on August 30.
As of July 28 - the deadline for registration on the Ministry of Education and Training's system, 849,544 candidates had registered for admission in 2025, accounting for 73.23%. Thus, more than 310,400 candidates did not register for university and college admission in 2025.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, the total number of applications for university and college admission in 2025 is 7,615,560. Accordingly, each candidate registers an average of about 9 applications.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training), affirmed: The Ministry's admission support system ensures that each candidate only passes the highest registered wish. If that wish is not passed, the system will consider the next wish.
A notable new feature of the 2025 university and college admissions is that there will no longer be an early admission process. All applications, whether based on high school graduation exam scores or a combination of both, will be processed simultaneously on the system. This is why experts and educators always remind candidates to pay special attention to the order of their applications, as this directly affects their chances of admission.
Experts still recommend that candidates closely monitor information from the Ministry of Education and Training and schools throughout the virtual filtering period. Although the system does not allow changes to preferences at this time, understanding the process will help candidates avoid misunderstandings or unnecessary worries.
After completing the virtual filtering process, candidates need to carefully check their personal information, major, benchmark scores and admission requirements; complete admission confirmation on the system on time; regularly monitor notifications from the school about admission schedules and required documents.
After the first round, from September 1, schools will launch a supplementary admission round, lasting until the end of December 2025. However, only candidates who have not confirmed their admission will be able to participate in these rounds. If confirmed, candidates will not be able to withdraw for further admission, unless the school approves their withdrawal for special reasons.
Experts warn that many candidates, after being admitted, find that their major is not suitable, but do not anticipate that they will not be considered for additional study. Therefore, they should consider carefully before confirming their admission.
