According to newly released data from AI popularity tracking platform Aicpb.com, Qwen's monthly active users (MAU) jumped 149% to 18.34 million in just two weeks of its beta launch, putting the app among the top 25 most used AI apps globally.
Li Bangzhu, founder of Aicpb.com, said Qwen's breakthrough shows the core strength of Alibaba's Qwen LLM platform model.
“Data trends consistently show that the world’s most popular AI products come from the teams with the strongest models,” he said, and Qwen’s explosive growth continues to reinforce this pattern.

Positioned as “the best personal AI assistant”, Qwen offers multi-modal capabilities such as deep learning, image creation, slide creation, and many advanced work tasks.
Just days after its launch, Qwen entered the top three trending free apps on the App Store in mainland China and Hong Kong.
Compared to domestic rivals, Qwen is a rare case of outstanding acceleration. ByteDance's Doubao, currently China's largest AI app with 167.91 million MAUs, grew only 5.33% in November, while startup DeepSeek's app continued to decline by 3.72%.
Globally, OpenAI's ChatGPT remains the clear leader with 775.57 million active users, although the growth rate has slowed down to less than 1%. Google recorded a 16.17% increase to 88.92 million MAUs thanks to the positive response to the Gemini 3 Pro.
Aicpb.com also points out another notable trend: AI glasses are emerging as a fast-growing segment. Meta View, the app that comes with Meta’s AI glasses, achieved a 44.42% MAU increase, the third highest globally.
Competition is getting fierce as a host of Chinese companies are entering the game to challenge Meta's leadership.
On December 4, Alibaba officially entered the market with a pair of AI glasses under the Quark brand, alongside products from Li Auto and Xiaomi.
The Chinese manufacturer is positioning its device as a more affordable option than Meta's Ray-Ban Display, which starts at $799.
Alibaba's Quark S1 model sells for 3,799 yuan (about $537), while the lighter G1 version costs 1,899 yuan.
The rise of Qwen and the AI glasses race shows that users are entering a boom period of AI products for life, where mobile “digital assistants” and smart wearable devices are expected to reshape search, work and entertainment habits in 2025.
