| Many landscapes and famous places of Hue through the angles of photographers are displayed at the exhibition "Vietnam through the lenses of international photographers" |
Highlights of photography
Introduced at the outdoor exhibition space at Diem Phung Thi Art Center (Le Loi Street, Thuan Hoa Ward), 200 photos give viewers the opportunity to admire the landscape, land and nature of Vietnam through beautiful works. In addition to the works taken by the authors themselves in many regions of Vietnam, the Organizing Committee also organized a real-life creative tour right in Hue at the end of May this year. Therefore, it is not difficult to come across typical works, bearing the unique colors of Hue with familiar landmarks such as the Imperial Citadel, mausoleums, temples, lagoons, traditional craft villages, beautiful bays in the world ... interwoven with everyday life.
Each photo is an impressive moment, about Hue Nam palace, Hue girls beside the heritage, Imperial City, Zeng brocade weaving artisans, Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon in peaceful mornings. Each work is a feeling, in many dimensions of space and time, showing the emotions and vibrations of the photographer before the scenery of the land bearing the mark of heritage. If photographers who come to Hue for the first time to create photos show excitement and freshness, then for artists who grew up and have many experiences in this land, every moment seems to be deeply absorbed.
Photographer Le Dinh Hoang (Hue City) - whose work was displayed and awarded at the exhibition "Vietnam through the lens of international photographers" was both moved and surprised when his name was called. Hoang left an impression with the work "Huong River - Hue Nam Palace Festival" with an extremely impressive angle.
“To me, Hue city is like a poem. Heritage architecture, natural scenery, or simply a moment of everyday life… also move me. The sun has its beauty, the rain also has its soul. Therefore, taking photos of Hue seems simple but is not simple at all,” Hoang shared, saying that taking photos of the land where he lives is a “mission” that is both a passion and a way to promote Hue.
Building a “national brand” for Vietnamese photography
Among the 20 works awarded this time, the majority of photos are of Hue. Examples include “Hue Festival” (Nguyen Hai, USA), “Lagoon Breath” (Le Ngoc Huy, Vietnam), “Golden Age” (Le Tan Thanh, Vietnam), “Sac Deng - Soul of A Luoi Brocade” (Tu Thanh, Vietnam), “ Tourists Visit Khai Dinh Tomb” (Nguyen An Thi, USA).
According to the Organizing Committee, this event has a strong appeal to photographers, through the number of more than 6,000 works sent by more than 400 authors from 16 countries before selecting 200 works to display and 20 works to award.
Mr. Ho An Phong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that this is a special art event, aiming to build a "national brand" for Vietnamese photography. Not only does it contribute to promoting the beautiful image of the country and people of Vietnam, but it also enhances international exchange and cooperation, contributing to enriching the activities of the National Tourism Year in Hue in 2025. These works also enrich the photo collection for Hue, serving to promote Hue culture and tourism.
Speaking more about the works displayed and awarded, Mr. Phong affirmed that they are beautiful photos, bringing deep feelings about the nature, country, people and culture of Vietnam. “These works have contributed to promoting and introducing tangible and intangible cultural values, resources and unique tourism products of Vietnam in general and Hue City in particular. Furthermore, they also attract domestic and international tourists to Vietnam and Hue City, contributing to the development of tourism, economy and society,” Mr. Phong shared.
According to the leader of the People's Committee of Hue City, Hue being chosen to host the "Vietnam International Photography Festival" not only affirms the city's position on the cultural and tourism map, but also creates a bridge of connection, cultural exchange, inspires creativity, and strengthens friendly cooperation between Vietnam and international friends.
