"This is an unfortunate incident for Vietnamese volleyball, especially the U21 team. At this point, the International Volleyball Federation has not confirmed whether it was a mistake by the Vietnam Volleyball Federation or by the athletes."

From the Federation's perspective, we hope that fans will continue to support the national team, the athletes in particular, and Vietnamese volleyball in general. Over the past period, the Federation, the teams, and the athletes have made many efforts and achieved breakthrough results.

These results were achieved not only through the efforts of the teams but also thanks to the support, encouragement, and motivation of the fans. We will continue to strive even harder to reciprocate the love that fans have given to Vietnamese volleyball,” Mr. Le Tri Truong shared.

According to information from VFV, the incident relates to the FIVB's decision regarding a player deemed ineligible to participate in the 2025 Women's U21 World Volleyball Championship in Indonesia.

VFV affirms that it has fully complied with FIVB regulations regarding the registration and submission of athlete documents before the tournament. These documents have been reviewed, approved by the FIVB, and the athletes have been allowed to compete.

However, on August 12th, the FIVB unexpectedly requested additional documentation and applied several previously unspecified conditions to the Vietnamese national team athlete. This decision led the FIVB to conclude that the athlete was ineligible to compete.

VFV stated that it is pursuing a formal complaint according to FIVB procedures, and is also coordinating with relevant Vietnamese authorities to clarify and protect the rights of athletes as well as the reputation of Vietnamese volleyball.

On the afternoon of August 13th, VFV sent an official document to FIVB regarding this matter.
