[Video] Building a free basic health care service package, aiming towards gradually eliminating hospital fees

The Ministry of Health is seeking opinions for the first time on the project to exempt hospital fees according to Resolution 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo, aiming to ensure the right to health care and reduce the financial burden for people.

On the afternoon of December 1, the Ministry of Health held a workshop to gather experts' opinions on the direction of developing a project to gradually exempt hospital fees, based on the foundation of universal health insurance coverage.

Permanent Deputy Minister Vu Manh Ha said that the health insurance coverage rate has reached over 94%, the medical examination and treatment network has expanded, and the capacity of all levels has been improved. However, people's out-of-pocket spending remains high, estimated at over 40% of total medical expenses, posing a potential risk of impoverishment due to illness, especially for the poor and vulnerable groups.
