On December 4, the ceremony to award the record certificate and excellent surgical center was presented by the leading medical technology group in the Asia - Pacific region (Device Technologies) to Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City. The ceremony marked a milestone after 7 months since the Ministry of Health approved Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City to perform 59 categories of robotic surgery in many fields such as urology, digestion, thoracic - vascular surgery, obstetrics and gynecology...
According to Mr. David Morgan, Sales Director of Southeast Asia - Device Technologies Group, this special success is due to strategic investment in high-end technology equipment and gathering a team of experts and experienced, skilled doctors. Of which, 10 doctors are globally certified in new generation robotic surgery. With the current growth momentum, the hospital is likely to reach the milestone of 400 cases in 12 months, especially when many doctors have been and continue to be internationally certified in robotic surgery.
Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City is currently the first private hospital in Vietnam to master multi-specialty surgical technology with the most modern Da Vinci Xi Robot in Southeast Asia, helping people access the world's leading medical technology at treatment costs many times lower than going abroad.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Quang Binh - Professional Director, Tam Anh General Hospital System, Ho Chi Minh City - shared that the need of Vietnamese people to access high-quality medical care, especially robotic surgery, is very high. Therefore, immediately after its implementation, Tam Anh General Hospital received and performed complex surgeries. These are difficult cases that will have many complications if performed by traditional surgical methods such as open surgery or laparoscopic surgery. For example, partial nephrectomy has increased the number of surgeries by nearly 4 times in recent months, thanks to the application of the Da Vinci Xi surgical robot.
Dr. Nguyen Hoang Duc, Head of the Department of Urology, Center for Urology - Nephrology - Andrology, commented that in the past, conventional laparoscopic surgery helped patients experience less pain and recover faster than open surgery. With robotic laparoscopic surgery, patients experience almost no pain, recover very quickly, and post-operative intestinal paralysis is rare. There are patients who had radical prostatectomy in the morning due to cancer, and in the afternoon they were able to return to the department to defecate.
"With robots, there is very little trauma or impact to the intestines. This is a miracle, especially for cancer patients and patients with complex diseases, which are considered 'impossible' to operate on," said Dr. Duc. The expert also shared his wish that the government pay more attention to social insurance and health insurance to address the rights of patients when accessing high-tech equipment.
With nearly 200 performed cases, the success rate recorded by Tam Anh General Hospital is over 96% in terms of surgical perfection, much higher than surgery without robots.

Currently, the cost of Da Vinci Xi Robot surgery in the US ranges from 15,000 to 22,000 USD , in Thailand about 10,000 USD and in Singapore about 22,000 to 60,000 USD . In Vietnam, patients only pay about 5,000 to 7,000 USD (120-180 million VND). This cost is very low compared to surgery abroad with the same technology, but still ensures the process and team of surgical experts are formally trained, have international robotic surgery certificates, comprehensive care process...

Bringing the Da Vinci Xi Robot to Vietnam is not just an investment in a modern device; it is Tam Anh Hospital's commitment to providing people with the opportunity to access leading medical achievements right in their homeland.
"Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City is considering adding 1-2 more robotic systems to meet the needs of minimally invasive surgery and complicated cases," said Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Quang Binh.
