According to the city leaders, the simultaneous application of digital identification, biometrics and cashless payments marks an important step forward in the roadmap to modernize public transport. This solution not only aims to improve passenger convenience but also helps optimize journey management, adjust train frequency according to actual passenger flow, and create a public transport database according to the smart urban model.
Technically, the new automatic ticket control system is developed based on the existing AFC platform, upgraded with management software, multi-standard readers, AI cameras and modern gate control circuits. Passengers can pass through the gate in just a few seconds by scanning EMV cards or facial recognition.
In the next phase, the system is expected to be expanded to other routes such as Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station, after completing hardware warranty and upgrade in December 2025. At the same time, Hanoi Metro said it will integrate with the national ticketing platform and the city's common electronic identification application for more convenience for passengers.
According to assessments from authorities and operators, this solution helps significantly reduce the use of cash, increases transparency and convenience, and is in line with the trend of smart urban development, towards a modern technological experience for public transport activities.
