Previously, Viettel received the First-Class Independence Order in 2019, the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces in 2014, and the title of Hero of Labor in 2007. From a small company specializing in contracting and constructing high-tower telecommunications infrastructure, with a row of single-story buildings, a UAZ vehicle, and 10 employees, after 35 years, Viettel has become the largest telecommunications company in Vietnam, a crucial economic group of the country with a brand value of nearly 9 billion USD, ranking number 1 in Southeast Asia and 15th on the list of 150 most valuable telecommunications companies globally. Over 35 years of business, Viettel has developed its business in four strategic pillars: domestic and international telecommunications, information technology solutions, high-tech industry, logistics, e-commerce, and other services. Over the past 35 years, Viettel's consolidated total revenue has exceeded 2.2 trillion VND, with pre-tax profit reaching nearly 540 trillion VND. Viettel has consistently been a leading contributor to the state budget, with cumulative contributions to date exceeding 433 trillion VND.

At the ceremony celebrating its 35th anniversary, Viettel Group was honored to receive the First-Class Order of National Defense. Accordingly, after 17 years of persistently pursuing the field of defense industry, Viettel has researched, mastered, and manufactured more than 60 product lines in 10 branches of weapons and technical equipment for the military, ensuring security and self-reliance, contributing to the modernization of many military branches, and enhancing the national defense capabilities. Viettel's special achievements are also recognized in the field of cybersecurity. Specifically, Viettel, together with the 86th Command and other relevant agencies, has invested resources in researching, developing, and implementing solutions and tools to help control Vietnam's sovereignty in cyberspace. Viettel has discovered over 400 zero-day vulnerabilities (previously undisclosed vulnerabilities), won the world's largest vulnerability exploitation competition, Pwn2Own, and prevented an average of over 50,000 attacks annually from global hackers on its systems. Viettel's cybersecurity team has contributed to placing Vietnam among the top 30 countries globally in terms of mastering over 95% of cybersecurity products. This is the foundation for protecting Vietnam's prosperity and the basis for Vietnamese intelligence to reach the world. In its core areas, Viettel has made significant strides over its 35-year journey. Viettel has built a large and modern telecommunications infrastructure with a fiber optic backbone network large enough to wrap around the Earth nine times, an Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure, 5G network infrastructure, and data centers ready for the development of artificial intelligence. By promoting research and application of new technologies, Viettel has created a system of groundbreaking products and built numerous application platforms and solutions in the fields of finance, healthcare, education, transportation, logistics, and smart city operation centers, making a positive contribution to the national digital transformation strategy. In particular, revenue from foreign investment activities reached over $3 billion, maintaining a high growth rate for seven consecutive years, five times the industry average worldwide, bringing in an annual foreign exchange inflow of up to $500 million to Vietnam. From a latecomer, Viettel has risen to become a leader in 7 out of 10 markets across three continents: Asia, Africa, and Latin America. At the event, the Chairman and CEO of the Group, Major General Tao Duc Thang, expressed his deep gratitude to the generations of Party and State leaders, ministries and agencies, the generations of Group leaders throughout the years, domestic and foreign partners, to more than 110 million customers worldwide, and to the families of Viettel employees who have always supported and energized Viettel to achieve the success it has today. Major General Tao Duc Thang affirmed: "Viettel's 35-year journey is entirely within the historical flow of nearly 40 years of national renewal. Viettel is proud to be a positive factor contributing to the development of the industry and the country. Vietnam, including Viettel, is sailing alongside the world on the ship of the 4.0 industrial revolution. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and Viettel needs to seize it to continue nurturing great aspirations and high goals, opening bigger new doors for the future. We promise to be determined and strive to continue building Viettel, walking alongside the country and its people, contributing with the Government to strongly develop science and technology, innovation, and becoming a global high-tech industrial group, a pioneer and key player in the two major transformations of the era: digital transformation and green transformation."
