| Thanks to early insurance participation, all equipment and machinery damaged by flooding at TNG Vo Nhai Garment Factory were promptly replaced, helping to stabilize jobs for workers. |
In early October, floodwaters poured through La Hien commune, carrying soil and rocks from upstream. In just a few hours, the TNG Vo Nhai Garment Factory, which covers more than 10 hectares, was submerged in a layer of muddy water over 2 meters high. All 42 production lines stopped operating, and machinery, warehouses and electrical equipment were severely damaged.
Ms. Duong Thi Hang, a worker in Sewing Team 1, has been with the factory since its inception. Recalling the time when the flood rose rapidly, she said: Seeing the whole factory submerged in water, I was very worried. Losing machines and tools, I wondered when I would be able to go back to work.
Ms. Ly Thi Hoa, a worker in Sewing Team 9, also shared similar concerns: When I heard about the huge losses, I was afraid that I would have to take a long leave and my income would be affected. Every month I have to spend money to raise my children, so I just hope that the factory will recover soon.
Those concerns were quickly resolved. After only 10 days, the entire production line of TNG Vo Nhai was restored. Nearly 1,800 workers returned to work to their own surprise, because few people thought that a factory that suffered a loss of nearly 100 billion VND could recover so quickly.
In the newly cleaned production area, the sound of sewing machines has returned to the bustle. In the warehouse, newly imported goods are stacked neatly; workers quickly get back to their daily routine. The anxiety of the days after the flood has been replaced by excitement as work and income resume and life is not disrupted.

Mr. Hoang Dinh Hao, Director of TNG Vo Nhai Garment Factory, said: As soon as the water receded, the Factory mobilized all its forces from workers, technicians, managers and hired additional professional cleaning staff to quickly restore production. The top priority is to keep jobs for workers, because 95% of them are local people and the income from the Factory is very meaningful to families in the highlands.
Currently, the average income of workers is 9-10 million VND/month. Therefore, early stabilization of production is not only an economic requirement, but also demonstrates the social responsibility and commitment of the enterprise to the workers who have been with it for many years.
TNG Vo Nhai is the only unit of TNG that suffered damage in storm No. 11. However, the proactiveness, flexibility and spirit of "not letting workers lose their jobs" helped the factory overcome the consequences of natural disasters, ensuring income for more than 1,800 workers, creating a sense of security and attachment.
This effort also demonstrates TNG’s methodical approach to risk management and production organization. The consensus of the workers, the strong direction of the Factory’s leadership, and the support from the parent company have helped a factory in the highlands stand firm in the face of great challenges from natural disasters.
