CHANGING MINDSET - UNLEASHING THE MOTIVATION TO ESCAPE POVERTY
According to the My Tinh An commune authorities, livelihood support is only truly effective when people clearly identify the causes of poverty and are determined to change their way of doing business. Therefore, along with reviewing poor households, the locality also investigates the specific needs and conditions of each poor, near-poor, and low-income household to advise on suitable models.

Thanks to the right direction, over the past two years, the Project to Support Cattle Breeding Production in the commune has yielded positive results, creating reassurance and motivation for the people.
Ms. Tran Thi Hong Diem, Chairwoman of the Farmers' Association of My Tinh An commune, said that the cattle farming model is suitable for the natural conditions, production practices, and investment capacity of the local people. With technical guidance and access to preferential capital, many poor and near-poor households have gradually stabilized their lives and escaped poverty sustainably.
According to statistics, My Tinh An commune currently has 89 poor households (accounting for 1.04%). The Resolution of the Commune Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term sets the goal of completely eliminating poverty in the commune by 2030.
To achieve this goal, the commune continues to effectively implement the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction, while integrating it with other programs to expand resources.
Comrade Truong Kim Son, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of My Tinh An commune, said that in the coming time, the commune will continue to expand two key models: breeding cattle and weaving sedge hats, thereby creating more income, improving living standards and aiming for sustainable poverty alleviation…
STORIES OF OVERCOMING DIFFICULTIES FROM VARIOUS LIVELIHOOD MODELS
The case of Mr. Tran Phu Hai in Tan My hamlet is a typical example. Born with a hearing and speech impairment, Mr. Hai struggled to make ends meet. In early 2024, he received over 29 million VND in support from the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction. This capital became a "foundation" for him to invest in breeding cattle, helping to ease his financial difficulties.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tu, Head of the Farmers' Association in Tan My hamlet, shared that although Mr. Hai's household faces difficulties and limitations in communication, he still has the ability to work. Supporting him in raising cattle will help him create a stable source of income to develop his family's economy .
Similarly, Mr. Duong Quoc Dung's family in Binh Cach hamlet also received capital support to purchase two breeding cows. To date, the herd has developed healthily and is preparing to give birth to its first calf, opening up new hope for the family.
Mr. Dung shared: "Thanks to the loan support, my family has the means to raise cattle, hoping the cows will reproduce more to generate income and gradually develop our livestock farming model."
Besides livestock farming, My Tinh An commune has also developed a model of weaving palm leaf hats - a traditional craft that provides women with work at home, suitable for those who cannot work far from home.

Ms. Chau Thi Nga's family in Hoa Ninh hamlet is one of the households that have been involved in this craft for many years. Thanks to the support of the Women's Union of the commune, Ms. Nga has had a stable income for more than 10 years. Ms. Nga shared: "Making palm leaf hats helps me take care of my mother, do housework, and earn a daily income. Women who are busy picking up and dropping off their children and grandchildren can also take on this work at home."
Currently, the commune has two groups weaving palm leaf hats in Trung Hoa and Hoa Ninh hamlets; the group in Hoa Ninh hamlet alone has 20 members, with an average income of 5-7 million VND per month.
According to Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of the commune, the locality is developing a plan to replicate the model in neighboring hamlets to create stable jobs for women, especially those who cannot work in companies or factories.
The achievements made today are a testament to the unity between the government and the people of My Tinh An. This is not only the goal of poverty reduction, but also a long journey to build sustainable livelihoods, ensure social security, and create development opportunities for all citizens.
That journey continues, with the belief in a better future – where no one is left behind.
