This move comes after a video posted on social media by Facebook user Nguyen Thanh Trung, titled "Phan Thiet Cemetery - A Sad Story," showed a group of people extorting money from family members visiting graves at Phan Thiet City Cemetery, causing great outrage.

The Phan Thiet City Party Committee today (March 10) issued a document requesting the City People's Committee to direct relevant agencies to coordinate with the Cemetery Management Board to investigate the matter, identify the organizations and individuals involved in the aforementioned actions, and take strict action against any violators (if any) to ensure security and order in the cemetery area.

Earlier on March 9th, Nguyen Thanh Trung posted a nearly two-minute video showing him and his relatives visiting a cemetery in Phan Thiet City when a group of more than 10 people, both men and women, followed them. This group suddenly started using rags and brooms to sweep the graves, even though the family had not asked or hired them.

After finishing the job, the group held out their hands asking for a "cleanup fee," forcing Mr. Trung and his relatives to give them 200,000 VND. Then the whole group left.

According to the account holder, his relatives said that if he didn't give them the money, he would be beaten by the group or his family's graves at the cemetery might be vandalized.

"Perhaps these people are unemployed, struggling financially, and want to earn a little extra to support their lives and families. But this method is completely unreasonable. If this continues, it will make many people afraid to come here to light incense for their loved ones," shared user Nguyen Thanh Trung.

After being shared, this clip attracted thousands of comments and shares.

Regarding the above incident, the Phu Hai Ward Police are currently coordinating with the Cemetery Management Board to investigate and handle the matter.
