“The Thai team is a big mountain, but what mountain is insurmountable? I hope I can bring the Vietnamese team to the top. I hope the players perform well,” Kim Sang-sik shared.

After 6 months of training, Mr. Kim has completed the first goal with the Vietnamese team, which is to reach the AFF Cup final. The second goal is to help Vietnam play well against Thailand, which has happened in history, but not often. “I understand that this is a Southeast Asian derby. Thailand’s coach is Japanese and I am Korean, so this is also an East Asian derby between two coaches. The Vietnamese team has never won against Thailand in the AFF Cup in the past 16 years. In the last 7 meetings, Quang Hai and his teammates have drawn and lost to the Thai team. In the friendly match in September at My Dinh Stadium, Vietnam opened the score thanks to Tien Linh, but then lost 1-2.
