General Le Van Duyet was born in 1764, in Hoa Khanh village, Kien Phong district, Dinh Tuong province (now Cai Be district, Tien Giang province).

He was twice appointed as Governor of Gia Dinh (from 1812 - 1815 and from 1820 - 1832), making great contributions to the construction, development, stabilization and protection of the Southern land...

In 1819, General Le Van Duyet submitted a memorial on digging Vinh Te canal to serve trade and military protection of the border area.

In 1830, he fortified the Bagua citadel to strengthen defense against invasion.

In 1832, he died in Gia Dinh and people built a mausoleum in Ba Chieu area to worship him.

At the end of the seventh lunar month every year, people hold a memorial service for him, and crowds of people attend.

The historical and cultural relic of Le Van Duyet's tomb located at 1 Vu Tung, Gia Dinh ward, Ho Chi Minh City, was recognized as a national relic according to Decision No. 1288-VH/QD dated November 16, 1988 of the Ministry of Culture.
