05 Fulbright PhD scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year

The U.S. Mission to Vietnam has just announced the Fulbright Vietnamese Visiting Student Researcher Program (VSR), academic year 2026-2027.

Accordingly, this is a non-degree program and has a maximum of 05 full scholarships for Vietnamese citizens studying a doctoral program in Science and Technology in Vietnam to enhance their research for a period of 6 to 10 months at universities in the United States in the 2026-2027 academic year.

Established in 1946 and funded by the U.S. Congress, the Fulbright Program aims to promote mutual understanding through academic and cultural exchange. The Fulbright Fellows Program is a competitive, merit-based scholarship. The scholarship includes tuition, round-trip airfare to the United States, a monthly stipend, and health insurance.

The scholarship is open to applicants who meet the minimum criteria: be a Vietnamese citizen residing in Vietnam during the application period (not dual citizenship); have at least one master's degree; are currently pursuing a PhD in Science and Technology in Vietnam and have not completed this PhD program before or while in the United States; have a valid English score, minimum TOEFL iBT 70 or IELTS 6.0 or Duolingo 105 or TOEFL Essentials 7.5. Applicants are exempt from submitting an English certificate if they have an invitation letter from a US school stating that the school does not require an English score.

A complete application includes an application form, three letters of recommendation, degrees and transcripts (including notarized English translations), TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo/TOEFL Essentials score certificates or invitation letters from US schools, essays, resumes, and proof of being enrolled in a doctoral degree from a school in Vietnam. The deadline for submitting applications is 5:00 p.m. on May 15, 2025 (Vietnam time).
