On the afternoon of June 26th, local authorities in Quang Tri province were investigating allegations of food poisoning among several students at Kim Thuy Ethnic Boarding Primary School in Kim Ngan commune, Quang Tri province.

Reportedly, at around 8:00 AM on the same day, many students at Kim Thuy Ethnic Boarding Primary School exhibited symptoms of vomiting and severe abdominal pain after eating breakfast at school. Immediately after discovering the incident, teachers and school medical staff provided care and first aid, but the symptoms worsened. Therefore, the school's administration notified the local authorities, who decided to take the students to the hospital for examination and treatment. The Kim Ngan Commune People's Committee mobilized commune vehicles to transport the students to the hospital.
According to Mr. Dang Van Duong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Kim Ngan commune, Quang Tri province, authorities have sealed food samples for testing. Local police forces have also arrived at the scene to investigate and clarify the cause of the incident.

Reportedly, the children were hospitalized with symptoms of abdominal pain and diarrhea. Immediately after admission, they were examined and tested by hospital medical staff. Kim Thuy Ethnic Boarding Primary School is located in a mountainous area, and its students are mainly children of the Van Kieu ethnic minority, who eat breakfast at school. Initial information indicates that the children's breakfast consisted of banh tay, a type of cake made from glutinous rice and wrapped in banana leaves.
