On September 21st, information from the People's Committee of Hai Ha District indicated that the locality is coordinating with the Quang Ninh Center for Disease Control (CDC) to implement measures to prevent the spread of diarrhea in the area.
Authorities are spraying disinfectant at the diarrhea outbreak site in Quang Thinh Kindergarten.
According to the People's Committee of Hai Ha District, from September 16-17, the Hai Ha District Health Center received 10 hospitalized cases with similar symptoms such as fever, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
Upon verification, all 10 cases were confirmed to be students of Quang Thinh Kindergarten. Furthermore, through epidemiological investigations at the school and relevant health stations, authorities in Hai Ha District recorded over 20 other cases between September 5th and 15th, all students and teachers from Quang Thinh Kindergarten, who also exhibited diarrhea symptoms but self-treated at home.
Thus, the total number of acute diarrhea cases in Hai Ha District over the past 11 days is 30, all of whom attend Quang Thinh Kindergarten.
Through testing, analysis, and evaluation by the Hai Ha District Health Center and the Quang Ninh CDC, the results showed that the cause was not food poisoning, but rather that all cases were infected with E. Coli and Shigella bacteria. These bacteria cause gastrointestinal illnesses that spread from person to person.
In response to the situation, the authorities in Hai Ha District carried out disinfection of the outbreak area at Quang Thinh Kindergarten; at the same time, they disseminated information and recommendations to the public, especially parents with young children, about disease prevention measures to avoid the spread of the disease in the community.
