Mr. Do Thai Vuong, Deputy General Director in charge of External Relations and Communications, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam, shared: “Sustainable development is a continuous journey that requires collaboration, cooperation, and innovation. Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam is committed to taking action and creating models that spread and bring increasingly greater impacts to the community and the environment. We are proud to partner with the Vietnamese Government to create shared values that have a profound impact and inspire other individuals and organizations to join hands.”
Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam is not only a business leader but also a pioneer in sustainable development activities, bringing practical value to the community. The company aligns with the Vietnamese government's commitment to sustainable development, focusing on addressing pressing environmental, social, and community issues. Its sustainable development strategy focuses on six pillars that create positive impacts for people and the planet: Positive impact on water resources; Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions; Promotion of sustainable packaging; Care for the health of consumers and employees; Creation of a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) environment; and Enrichment of community life. As a company closely tied to water resources, Suntory PepsiCo has implemented two parallel approaches to water conservation. First, it optimizes water use in its factories through closed-loop processes and water recycling, continuously reducing the amount of water used in production. Secondly, the company actively regenerates and replenishes water resources for nature through a reforestation program in upstream forest areas nationwide, through public-private partnerships with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Beyond focusing on water conservation in the present, the company also prioritizes the sustainability of water resources in the future, implementing the "Mizuiku - I Love Clean Water" water education program since 2015, fostering awareness and love for water resources among young generations, and strategically collaborating with the Ministry of Education and Training nationwide.
In line with the Vietnamese government's commitment to zero greenhouse gas emissions, Suntory PepsiCo is implementing a roadmap to reduce greenhouse gas emissions not only in its production activities but also throughout its value chain. The company is gradually transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy, initially through the installation of biomass fuel systems at 100% of its factories nationwide by 2024. Suntory PepsiCo is a pioneer in promoting sustainable packaging by minimizing the amount of virgin plastic in packaging, launching packaging made from 100% recycled plastic, and promoting education to change community behavior to improve collection and recycling efficiency. In 2022, the company became the first beverage company in Vietnam to launch a product with packaging made from 100% recycled plastic (Pepsi), and the following year launched the first bottled tea with packaging made from 100% recycled plastic (Oolong Tea+). Guided by its core value of "Giving back to society," Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam strives to enrich the lives of Vietnamese people through promoting culture, sports, and community. "Circle of Compassion" – a charitable program initiated by employees, building dozens of "Happy Schools" across the country; "Bringing Tet Home" – supporting disadvantaged people to reunite with their families during Tet; and the Friendship Golf Tournament – a platform for sharing values to support child cancer patients and education, have been implemented for many years, bringing practical value to the community.
