On January 23, the Tuyen Quang Provincial Department of Health announced that 33 students from Phu Lam Primary School suspected of rat poison poisoning are being monitored at the National Children's Hospital and Bach Mai Hospital, and their health is stable.
Earlier, at around 4:10 PM on January 21st, at Phu Lam Primary School in My Lam Ward, Tuyen Quang City, five students showed symptoms of fatigue, nausea, and frequent vomiting.
One student experienced a seizure. The school notified the My Lam Ward Health Station to provide first aid and transport the student to Tuyen Quang Provincial General Hospital for examination and treatment.
Tuyen Quang Provincial General Hospital is receiving suspected cases of food poisoning.
By 8:00 AM on January 22nd, the Provincial General Hospital had admitted an additional 28 students who had been given a pink liquid in a plastic tube to drink by their friends since the afternoon of January 21st.
Upon examination, four students showed symptoms of fatigue, abdominal pain, and nausea. At the request of the patients' families, the hospital proactively transferred these 28 students to Bach Mai Hospital for further examination and testing for toxic substances.
On January 23, the Tuyen Quang Provincial Department of Health announced that the children are being treated at the National Children's Hospital and Bach Mai Hospital, their health is stable, they are being closely monitored, and there are no serious cases.
Reportedly, the students found several bottles of pink liquid in a plastic pipe near the school gate and then shared them among themselves to drink.
The Department of Health of Tuyen Quang province has directed the Food Safety and Hygiene Department to coordinate with the Provincial Center for Disease Control to verify and collect samples of the pink liquid bottles and send them to the National Institute of Food Safety Testing for analysis.
The Department of Health of Tuyen Quang province has directed the Provincial General Hospital to continue monitoring the treatment progress of patients at the National Children's Hospital and Bach Mai Hospital, and to report daily to the Department of Health as required.
