42 companies have a market capitalization of over $1 billion.

As of the end of September 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE) had 42 companies with a market capitalization exceeding $1 billion. Among them, Vietnam Foreign Trade Commercial Bank ( Vietcombank ) was the only company with a market capitalization of nearly $20 billion.

Vietcombank has the highest market capitalization, reaching nearly $20 billion.

Statistics from HOSE show that as of September 29, 2023, HOSE had 601 listed securities, including 394 stocks, 3 closed-end fund certificates, 14 ETF certificates, and 190 guaranteed warrants. The total volume of listed shares reached over 146.42 billion shares. Market capitalization reached over 4.62 trillion VND, a decrease of 5.62% compared to the previous month, accounting for over 93.69% of the total listed market capitalization and equivalent to 48.57% of the 2022 GDP (GDP at current prices).

Among the 394 listed companies, 42 currently have a market capitalization exceeding US$1 billion (over VND 23,500 billion). Of these, Vietnam Foreign Trade Commercial Bank (Vietcombank - VCB) is the only company with a market capitalization exceeding US$20 billion (approximately VND 480,000 billion).

Previously, in July 2023, after VCB reached its peak at 106,500 VND/share, the bank's market capitalization reached over 504,000 billion VND, equivalent to 1/10 of the total market capitalization of the entire stock exchange. At the close of trading on October 3rd, VCB was only 86,300 VND/share.
