On November 16th, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, the Ho Chi Minh City Children's Council, and the Ho Chi Minh City Student Support Center, in collaboration with SCG Group, organized a scholarship awarding ceremony for students in the Southern region.
The SCG Sharing the Dream Scholarship 2024 is for students with excellent academic achievements (admission score of 24 points or higher for first-year students, cumulative GPA of 8.0/10 or higher for second-year students), from disadvantaged family backgrounds, with a strong will to succeed, exceptional talent, an interest in major national and global issues, dreams and ambitions to overcome difficulties, and a desire to contribute to society in the future.
This year, the scholarship program awarded 100 scholarships for university students (worth 15 million VND each) and 100 scholarships for high school students (worth 2 million VND each) nationwide, totaling 1.7 billion VND. In the Southern region alone, scholarships were awarded to 74 students. Of these, 65 were one-time scholarships and 9 were scholarships for high-achieving students, continuing until graduation. The value of these scholarships is 15 million VND each.
Mr. Le Xuan Dung, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Student Support Center, shared: "Over the past five years, the program has supported nearly 500 students in overcoming difficulties and pursuing their dreams of acquiring knowledge. Among them, 20 outstanding students have represented Vietnam in international competitions and forums; 16 community projects have been presented and implemented in practice with the support, financial assistance, knowledge, and mentorship from experts."
"Many students, after graduating, have volunteered to return to the program as mentors, guiding subsequent generations to continue implementing projects that benefit society. This forms the foundation for a community of young people who share a common aspiration to live a life of dedication and sustainable development," said Mr. Le Xuan Dung.
It is known that over the past 17 years, the program has supported more than 5,600 scholarships for students nationwide with a total value of up to 40 billion VND. In particular, since 2018, the program has organized many more activities to support the development of students' capabilities through training programs, workshops, and workshops on practical social skills, professional skills, and employment.
The scholarship program has organized over 100 training sessions, more than 50 networking events with experts and businesses, and factory visits to provide students with practical experience and internships.
