On the afternoon of December 8th, Mr. Nguyen Sy Dong, Principal of Muong Ai Primary School (Muong Tip commune, Nghe An province), stated that in the 2025-2026 school year, the school has 152 students eligible for meal support from the "Nurturing Children in Nghe An" project, which began implementation in October 2025. However, after about two weeks of implementation, some problems arose, preventing the project from proceeding with payments and settling the benefits for the students.
By early December, the project announced that the subsidy had been adjusted to 11,000 VND per meal, but the number of students eligible for the subsidy had dropped to only 131. “After a few days of providing school meals, the school reviewed the list and discovered that the number of students receiving support had decreased, so we decided to temporarily suspend the school meal program,” Mr. Dong explained.
Recently, the school received a message informing them that all 152 students would continue to receive support, but the meal allowance would be reduced to 8,000 VND per meal. However, the school responded that they could not resume providing meals to the students due to unusual information circulating on social media regarding the project.
"To date, the school has not received any funding from the 'Nurturing Children in Nghe An' project," Mr. Dong emphasized.

At Luong Minh Kindergarten (Luong Minh commune), 96 children receive meal support under the project, at a rate of 10,000 VND per meal, 20 meals per month, equivalent to approximately 2.4 million VND per child per year.
However, since the start of the school lunch program in October 2025, the project has yet to transfer the funds, leaving the school in debt to the supplier. When the school inquired, the project only stated that "the funds will be transferred this week."
Earlier, starting in September, many social media forums were flooded with posts expressing doubts about the transparency of the Nghe An Children's Fundraising Project's use of funding.
This charitable project has been running since 2019 with the goal of supporting school lunch programs for students in the mountainous areas of Nghe An province. Donors typically transfer money directly into the project's account to support specific programs or children.
In several fundraising posts, Ms. Do Thi Nga was introduced as the head and project manager. However, when donors expressed doubts about transparency and wanted clarification on income and expenses, they were unable to contact Ms. Nga since October 15th.
Many donors have submitted requests to the authorities to clarify the process of managing and using the project's funds.
According to reports, at schools in Muong Ai, Nam Can, Luong Minh, Nhon Mai, Xa Luong, etc., 241 students received support from 61 benefactors, totaling over 514 million VND. If calculated from 2019 to the present, the amount of donations could be many times greater.
The incident is currently being investigated and clarified by the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police.
