Female student Trinh Thu Hien, class 12D student of Tong Duy Tan High School, excellently achieved 29.5 points in block C00 (Literature 9.5; History 10; Geography 10) in the 2025 high school graduation exam.
Hien was born in Vinh Thinh commune, Vinh Loc district (old) now Bien Thuong commune (Thanh Hoa province) in a farming family. Her mother is a farmer, her father is a worker, Hien's older brother is in his second year of university in Hanoi .

Sharing about her high school graduation exam results, Hien said she was not surprised about the high score, but was quite surprised about being the runner-up in block C00 nationwide and the valedictorian of Thanh Hoa province.
According to Hien, the History and Geography exam questions this year were not difficult, however, the way the Literature exam was designed was completely new and open-ended. “When I read the Literature exam questions, I was quite surprised. It took me 10 minutes to figure out the topic and how to develop it,” Hien said.
After comparing with the answers from the Ministry of Education and Training, Hien found that her History and Geography test was quite accurate, but the Literature test was open-ended so it was difficult to give a close score.

"For Literature, I only estimated to get about 8-8.5 points, so I was very surprised to get such a high score," Hien shared.
However, on the day the results were announced, Hien still did not dare to look at the scores herself, but had to ask her brother to look them up. Only when he told her that she had scored 29.5 points did Hien breathe a sigh of relief.
“When I got my score, I was very happy. I immediately called my dad (who was at work at the time) and then showed it off to my mom and teachers. With this score, I never thought I would be the second best student in the country and the top student in the province,” Hien said.
Sharing with VietNamNet, Trinh Thu Hien said that since entering high school, she has liked studying social subjects (Literature, History, Geography). Outside of class time, listening to teachers' lectures, at home Hien mainly studies by herself and reviews according to the teachers' methods.

“To understand open-ended questions, you first need to grasp the basic knowledge in the textbook and the expanded knowledge when the teacher lectures. Only then can you apply it to open-ended questions. Any type of question requires knowledge and logical connections. As long as you understand the rules, you will be able to do the test,” Hien shared.
When asked about his future plans, Hien said he would apply for admission to block C00 at the Faculty of Literature Pedagogy of Hanoi National University of Education.
“I want to become a teacher so that I can impart knowledge to generations of students in the future. Furthermore, studying pedagogy will be free of tuition and will help with study costs, helping to reduce the financial burden on my family,” Hien confided.
Mr. Le Van Dung (homeroom teacher of class 12D) said that Hien is a diligent and studious student. She is also very sociable with her friends and always helps them in their studies.
“In grade 12, Hien won third prize in the provincial-level Geography competition. With Hien’s recent high school graduation exam scores, the school was not surprised by her previous academic achievements. In the future, in a new environment, with Hien’s abilities, we hope she will make further breakthroughs,” said Mr. Dung.
