Upon taking the patient's medical history, he stated that after a party, he had inserted his penis into a metal ball bearing to seek a new sensation. Two days later, his penis became stuck in the bearing, causing swelling, and despite his attempts to remove it, he was unsuccessful.
He was brought to Xuyen A General Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) by his relatives to ask doctors to save his "penis".
After consultation and discussion with the patient, the team of doctors from the Urology Department, in collaboration with the Orthopedics Department, used a saw to break the ball bearing out of the penis. Because the ball bearing was located close to the shaft of the penis, the doctors were meticulous during the procedure to avoid the saw blade touching the skin on the penis shaft.

After a 30-minute procedure, a 7 cm ball bearing was removed from the penis, relieving the pain. Minor abrasions were noted in the surgical area. The patient was then monitored, had his dressings changed, and received wound care at the Urology Department. Two days after the surgery, the patient's penis showed reduced swelling and pain, and blood flow to the genitals gradually returned to normal.
On October 3rd, Dr. Nguyen Vinh Binh, Head of the Urology Department, stated that if left untreated, this case would cause swelling and edema of the penis, leading to pain and affecting the patient's urination. The longer it is left untreated, the more the penile shaft will lack blood supply, resulting in skin loss and even necrosis.
Doctors advise men against experimenting with methods that could be dangerous to the penis. If such situations occur, doctors recommend that patients do not attempt to remove the devices from the penis themselves, but instead go to a hospital with a Urology department for safe and effective treatment, avoiding any impact on penile function.
