At the event, Colonel Pham Van Phi, Director of the General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum, said: In 2020, according to the wishes of the General's family and with the consensus of the Hanoi City Party Committee and People's Committee, the General Nguyen Chi Thanh Memorial House began to be upgraded to the General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum.
Immediately after the decision to establish the museum, General Nguyen Chi Thanh's family began the procedures to apply for a permit to build the museum building. The architecture of the museum building was designed based on the prototype of house number 34 Ly Nam De, Cua Dong ward, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi, from the memories of the General's family members. This is the house where the General and his family lived from 1958 to 1986 with many profound memories. At house number 34 Ly Nam De, General Nguyen Chi Thanh's family once welcomed President Ho Chi Minh to visit and it was also here that the Politburo meeting took place on August 6, 1964 to decide on the direction of the Southern revolution after the Gulf of Tonkin incident on August 8, 1964.

The museum has a total area of 500 m2, of which 200 m2 is for exhibition, conference, movie, and reading rooms; 100 m2 is for offices and warehouses; and 150 m2 is for garden.
The exhibition system outside the festive space also includes 8 main themes: Homeland - Central Revolution; Viet Bac; Building the Army; Building peace in the North; Southern Revolution; July 6; The hearts of those who stayed; Family - Continuing journey. In addition to the above themes, the Museum also displays sub-themes such as: Foreign affairs, Guerrilla General, Anti-individualism, Culture - Arts, Sports , General of the Farmers, Fighting for Peace...

The exhibition system introduces 670 images, documents, artifacts, 23 bronze statues associated with typical historical figures and events of the Vietnamese Revolution, 2 recreated spaces: the former office of General Nguyen Chi Thanh at 34 Ly Nam De and the working hut at the Central Office of the South. In addition, there are over 100 books written by the General and authors about the General; a system of documentaries about the life, career and life of General Nguyen Chi Thanh.
“The museum construction will be completed from October 2021 to June 2022. The museum aims to honor and express gratitude to the contributions of President Ho Chi Minh, previous leaders and General Nguyen Chi Thanh himself for his contributions to the revolutionary cause, contributing to the dissemination of education and traditional history to generations, especially the younger generation, students, armed forces and tourists when coming to the capital Hanoi,” Colonel Pham Van Phi informed.
“From now until December 2023, the Museum will collect comments from scientists, state management agencies and visitors to complete the exhibition content before organizing the inauguration on January 1, 2024, on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the General's birthday,” said Colonel Pham Van Phi.

Speaking at the event, Colonel Nguyen Van Oanh, Deputy Director of the Political Department, General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army affirmed: General Nguyen Chi Thanh is a typical leader of the Party and the Vietnamese revolution; a loyal communist soldier, a leader, commander with intelligence, determination and strategic vision.
Throughout his revolutionary career, in any position, on the most difficult fronts, in the hottest times, General Nguyen Chi Thanh always excellently fulfilled the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people; he is a shining example for future generations to follow.
The establishment and construction of the General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum is a very meaningful work, in line with the policy of promoting resources and socializing museum activities of our Party and State. This is also a practical activity to express gratitude for the General's contributions to the Vietnamese revolution and the army.
“We believe that when it comes into operation, the Museum will be a red address to directly propagate and educate traditions to officers, soldiers of the entire army, people of the whole country, and international friends,” emphasized Colonel Nguyen Van Oanh.
