On the afternoon of May 18, a representative of the Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard Command said that the Drug and Crime Prevention Department of the Quang Tri Border Guard had just presided over and coordinated with the Central Drug and Crime Prevention Task Force and the Drug Police Department of the Quang Tri Provincial Police to successfully combat Project QT1222 (phase 2) and arrest a transnational drug trafficker and transporter, seizing 36,000 synthetic drug pills.

Specifically, at 10:20 a.m. the same day, at the northern bus station of Thua Thien - Hue province (132 Ly Thai To street, An Hoa ward, Hue city), Quang Tri Border Guard coordinated with functional forces to arrest Dang Phuoc Phong (born in 1994, residing at 39 Phung Khac Khoan street, Gia Hoi ward, Hue city) for illegally transporting drugs.

Evidence seized at the scene included 36,000 pink tablets (coded WY), 01 motorbike, 01 mobile phone and many related documents. At the scene, Dang Phuoc Phong confessed that the pink tablets were synthetic drugs.

Previously, implementing the first phase of the QT1222 project, on March 2, at Km229+900 of the West branch of Ho Chi Minh road (Miệt Củ village, Hương Linh commune, Hương Hóa district, Quảng Trị province), the investigation force discovered and caught red-handed Võ Quyết Thắng (31 years old, residing in Hòa Thành village, Tân Hợp commune, Hương Hóa district) illegally transporting narcotics. Evidence seized at the scene included 12,000 synthetic drug pills and 01 motorbike.

The case was then decided by the Commander of the Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard Command to initiate criminal proceedings and hand it over to the Quang Tri Provincial Police Department for further investigation and handling according to their authority. Currently, the case is being further investigated, verified, expanded and handled according to the provisions of law.
