At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on December 4, Mr. Hoang Duc Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Hydrometeorology, said that right after storm No. 15, the East Sea will have storm No. 16 in the coming days.

Mr. Hoang Duc Cuong informed that the East Sea is about to have storm number 16.

According to Mr. Hoang Duc Cuong, since December 3, the sea east of the central Philippines has a tropical depression at about 14 degrees north latitude - 135 degrees east longitude, moving slowly in a northwest direction.

It is forecasted that by December 6-7, this tropical depression will likely pass the central Philippines and enter the East Sea, possibly strengthening into a storm, making it the 16th storm this year.

The East Sea is about to have storm number 16, which will cause heavy rain in the Central region.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, storm No. 16 is likely to directly affect the mainland of the central and south central regions, causing moderate to heavy rain from Hue to Khanh Hoa .

According to Mr. Hoang Duc Cuong, by the end of November, the East Sea had 21 storms and tropical depressions (15 storms, 6 tropical depressions). 2025 has become the year with the most storms and tropical depressions in the East Sea since observation data began (since 1961). Previously, in 2017, there were 20 storms and tropical depressions active in the East Sea.

Right after storm No. 16, the East Sea is likely to see another storm or tropical depression before the end of the 2025 storm season.

Sharing his opinion on the weather in December, Mr. Hoang Duc Cuong informed that the central and south central regions are likely to experience 1-2 widespread periods of moderate to heavy rain, in which the rainfall from southern Quang Tri to the north of the south central coast tends to be higher than the average of many years, so it is necessary to guard against the risk of flash floods and landslides.

In the northern provinces, cold air continues to increase in frequency and intensity and may cause severe cold./.
