Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

In an atmosphere of sincerity, friendship and high trust, the two Ministers had in-depth and comprehensive exchanges of views on the bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual concern; reached broad common understanding on specific measures and tasks to implement high-level agreements and common perceptions, especially the Vietnam-China Joint Statement on continuing to deepen and elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.

On that basis, the two sides agreed to continue to increase regular high-level exchanges and contacts, coordinate well in organizing important foreign affairs activities; maintain effective implementation of dialogue and cooperation mechanisms between the two sides, focusing on the 16th Meeting of the Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation held in China.

Overview of the meeting.

The two sides agreed to promote and improve the effectiveness of cooperation in substantive areas, especially in economics , trade, investment, transport connectivity, and development of strategic infrastructure such as roads and railways; and actively promote the pilot construction of smart border gates to facilitate trade.

The two Foreign Ministers agreed to further enhance people-to-people exchanges, consolidate a favorable social foundation for the relationship between the two Parties and countries; promote deepening local cooperation; continue to strengthen coordination and mutual support within multilateral frameworks; maintain close coordination in the management and protection of land borders according to three legal documents on the Vietnam-China land border and related agreements.

Regarding the East Sea issue, the two sides emphasized the importance of seriously implementing the agreements and common perceptions of the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two countries on controlling and resolving disagreements, effectively maintaining negotiation mechanisms on maritime issues, contributing to maintaining peace and stability in the East Sea.
