On March 26, The Atlantic published the entire chat content on the Signal application of US President Donald Trump's security advisory team about the airstrike campaign in Yemen, including confidential military information of the Pentagon.

According to a screenshot of the Signal chat group, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth updated information about the plan to kill a leader of the Houthi movement in Yemen two hours before the military campaign was officially launched on March 15.

Previously, Mr. Hegseth repeatedly denied updating the war plan on the chat group. President Trump and other senior advisors affirmed that no classified information was shared.

US Defense Secretary Texts Timeline for Houthi Attack Plan

Here is the update from Minister Hegseth titled "Team Update":

"CURRENT TIME (1144et): Weather FAVORABLE. Just CONFIRMED with CENTCOM we are PROCEEDING with mission deployment"

"1215et: F-18s TAKE OFF (first attack wave)"

"1345: First opportunity for F-18 to strike is open (Terrorist is target at known location so everything WILL BE ON TIME - simultaneously attack drones are deployed (MQ-9)"

"1410: More F-18S TAKE OFF (second attack wave)"

"1415: drones lock on (THIS IS WHEN THE FIRST BOMBS WILL BE DROP, pre-determined targets are waiting)

"1536 Second wave of F-18s begins – simultaneously, Tomahawk missiles on warships are launched."

"INFORMATION WILL BE UPDATED (according to time frame)"

Hours later, national security adviser Mike Waltz confirmed to the chat group the killing of the Houthis' top missile expert.

"We have determined that he entered his girlfriend's compound and that the place has now collapsed," Mr. Waltz wrote, revealing that the US was conducting a spying operation at the time.

After The Atlantic published the group chat, Secretary Hegseth refused to answer questions from reporters. The Pentagon leader only said that the contents of the Signal chat group did not mention "location, route, flight path, source, method" of use.

The information, according to The Atlantic , was posted to the Signal chat group "two hours before the plan to bomb Houthi targets was officially deployed," according to journalist Jeffrey Goldberg, who was unexpectedly added to the chat group.

In Jamaica, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who was a member of the chat group, admitted to reporters that someone had made a big mistake by adding a journalist to the group. But he dismissed concerns that the pre-shared information on a commercially-operated chat app could compromise the Pentagon’s military operations.
